As we're spending a whole month in Arpora without a complete kitchen set for cooking proper lunch/dinner, we needed to find some places to eat that wouldn't be too heavy neither for our wallets nor tummies. And boy am I glad I decided to stop for lunch at Varsha on my walk to Calangute. Looks like a nice enough, not too crowded and clean place from the outside and pure veg/Punjabi food sign I took as a promise of a more extensive selection on vegetable dishes and proper Indian food unlike in many of the other restaurants in the area, which compete for the foreign tourist customers. I ordered bhindi fry, baingan bharta and dal fry. You know just in case portions were small, but I was slightly worried when I was served as the dishes were huge! Everything I ate was 10/10. These are the same dishes I cook at home too and I was very happy to see that they cook more in home style too. So not too much oil or salt or spices. I finished each dish with great pleasure and even though I really did eat a lot, the best part was that I didn't even feel too full or heavy after, which really speaks for itself on the quality of food here! Will be bringing my boyfriend here during our stay too and can't wait to try their dosa/idli breakfast selection! Prices are very reasonable considering quality and quantity (I paid 375 for my three dishes) and...
Read moreFairly, nothing great hotel. It's just a very worst hotel maintained by a person who have no mindfulness thinking about the number of customers visits and he doesn't pay attention to the customers. He looks like not even a 20+aged person, who looks after this hotel. Ordered 2teas and paid the amount. He made me wait for until 40mins and even after few reminders, he informs to his fellow servers to pay off my amount 30rs. I just had to bang him of with my mouth, yelling at him , I just don't want money I need tea in 5mins. I thought it was me all alone. Soon in a minute, another customer, who came by family, ordered lemon juice and a strawberry shake, and they got orange juice with a tea. Meanwhile, also another few people came up by this fellow asking for snacks which he did not received, even after waiting since 20mins, where as his beside table customers have received in short period. And now heat came up to him. Another person from inside came out and started attending and managing all one by one.
Fact: Tea was superb. I dropped in for around 4times here...
Read moreI tried a few different dishes, and the experience was bit mixed.
Dosa: This was a letdown. I expected it to be served hot and fresh, but it was lukewarm. The chutney was also quite watery and lacked flavor. The dosa itself was heavily oiled, which took away from the taste.
Puri: The puri, on the other hand, was much better. It arrived hot and the taste was good. This is a dish I'd recommend trying.
Pav Bhaji: I was not impressed with the pav bhaji. The flavor was lackluster, and I'd suggest skipping it to save your money.
Overall Thoughts
The food quality is a bit hit-or-miss, with the taste being average overall. I believe the kitchen could improve the dishes significantly by simply serving them hot. Serving the food at the right temperature would elevate the entire dining experience and add an extra dimension to...
