Kandeel — Restaurant in Gujarat

Visited this place on my last visit to Surat, It was supposed to be a revolving experience. But it stopped revolving for about an hour while we were there. Started revolving when we were about to leave :(. But it was a second visit to this place, Previously it was working fine. So probably this was a one off day to visit :).

Ambiance is nice. On this visit i noticed they have also started buffet which was not there about 3-4 years ago. We decided to not go for buffet and have a dining experience.

Started with Cream Onion Soup, Tried this first time and loved the taste of it. Toast Cheese Garlic Bread were given as complimentary with it. Which were super crunchy and cheese.

In starters we had Masala Papad, Veg Crispy and some Paneer starter. Veg Crispy was the highlight of the day. One of the best i had. We ordered only one dish of it, So per head quantity(For 6) was less :(. Paneer one kind of common and had ok taste. Another one was Hydrabadi Tikki, which was my choice. And it was good until the time i had coconut taste from it.(Don't like coconut in my food). But if it wasn't there it was perfect to have.

Coming to Main course we ordered Paneer Bhuna (Again Paneer :(, Because of majority votes - sadly). But it tasted well. Little bit on spicier side. I ordered Masala Chaas with it which was very well made. Probably would have liked main course more if it was not Paneer again.

Overall it's kind of Good visit. Not a wow kind of food but decent enough to like. Will try and visit again for Buffet sometime in future.

The revolving restaurant is one of the oldest restaurant of surat , located on the top floor of hotel Tex plaza in the textile market. It is Asia ‘s first revolving restaurant, it compete one revolution in about 90 minutes . The restaurant serve buffet only on weekdays and normal A la carte dishes are served throughout the week. The buffet offers 20 -25 dishes, veg as well as non veg . We started our dinner with mock tails and starters. The mock trials were served at room temperature and were not at all chilled. There was not much variety of starters, there were only 4 to choose from. Veg corn cake is good in taste the rest are average. For main course there were 3 veg curries. Paneer tikka masala was very spicy, veg bagwan was good. The accompanying masala rice was not cooked properly and the roti were under cooked and stretchy . The desserts were a complete disappointment, there were just 3 to choose from , gulab jamun , cake and ice cream.
