We went to Mehmaan to eat lunch with our family. As soon as they started serving the food, we realized that food is not of good quality.
Salad was from previous day, chutney was staled, dry fruit halwa (though it didn’t have any dry fruit)???
Rice was cold, when we asked, they said rice are always cold and that’s why they serve with hot daal/kadhi – not acceptable answer.
At the font desk we informed the owner about all issues and asked how much we have to pay, and he said, “Sorry for all the convenience you had today at our restaurant, we will make sure to rectify it for future and we want you to visit again, and I will make sure to take money from you in your next visit”.
Later in the day my cousin informed that owner made a comment that your entire family came today for lunch, and they didn’t pay. This is ridiculous – they just told one side of story to my cousin.
I told my cousin that let’s go and pay it to him and sort it out the issue. Next day when I visited with my cousin at restaurant, owner wasn’t there. We went next day and again it was same story, he wasn’t there – looks like he purposefully ignored me. Finally, he came on phone and said the same story to pay next time you visit us – I had enough of talks so asked him to take full payment.
I will strongly recommend everyone not to GO to Mehmaan restaurant unless you want to experience the bad food and service and YES make sure to pay them full even if they offer you a discount.
Mehmaan – English translation is Guest, but here in this restaurant that is not TRUE.

Read moreI invited a few of my relatives to each lunch at Mehman. The salad given to us was from the previous day. The chutneys were staled and making odors. They named the dish "Dry fruit halwa," which didn't have a single piece of dry fruit. When first inquired, they said it was a grind and mixed inside. What rubbish! Then they realized and added a few slices of almond. The rice was cold. The taste overall was below average.
The service was poor. We had to ask servers frequently.
When I was about to pay, I reported all the issues to the person at the counter. He declined to receive the payment entirely, although I insisted on taking some. He stated, "I will accept the payment when you visit next time, and you will have an awesome experience then." The chapter closed, and I came home. They made a humiliating statement in the evening to my cousin that we came home without paying. Enough was enough, went there again and paid in full!
Go there only if you don't care about your health, wanted to see how bad the service could be, and top of that pay in full even if they give any discount!

Few restaurants in Ahmedabad can master the art of cooking Gujarati dishes; though they are bit sweeter side. Aaloo sabji is to die for, Dal is also apt to the T. Also perk is their pocket friendly pricing.
