I recently visited Sankalp with my parents. A rare outing where all three of us were together after a very long time. Usually, I go out with either mom or dad, so this was supposed to be a special family meal.
We ordered:
Plain Uttapam for myself
Masala Uttapam with onion for my dad
Masala Uttapam without onion (but with garlic) for my mom, as she avoids onion in food.
The food took about 15â20+ minutes to arrive. Which was okay and understandable. But what followed completely ruined our experience.
When the waiter brought the Uttapams, I asked him which one was with onion and which one was without. He was absolutely confused and kept switching his answer like a game of ping pong âThis is with onionâ, âno, that one isâ, âwait, Iâm not sure.â I even called the manager, but shockingly, he too couldnât give a clear answer.
They took one Uttapam back and left one on the table, saying âthis one is with onionâ, so naturally, my dad started eating. But minutes later, the waiter returned and said, âSorry sir, this is the one WITHOUT onion.â My dad quietly handed the plate to my mom, but she was clearly upset. She had already lost her appetite and was unhappy that such a basic instruction was mishandled.
Meanwhile, my dad had to wait 20 more minutes to finally receive his Masala Uttapam, By then, my mom and I had almost finished eating.
We went out together after a long time, expecting at least to enjoy a meal together. But this chaotic and unprofessional service made sure we couldn't even do that. It ruined what should have been a cherished family moment.
It wasnât just a mistake with food, it was a lack of basic responsibility, attentiveness, and coordination from both the waiter and the management. When a restaurant canât even identify dishes they themselves prepare, it shows a serious problem in operations.
The staff didnât even seem apologetic or sincere. I donât expect 5-star service. Just the decency to treat a customerâs order carefully and not spoil a rare family outing.
Highly...

Read moreThis used to be a decent place where you can have good dosa prepared from fresh ingredients. I visited the restaurant today with the family, but the food was not pleasing. Everyone felt that the batter was old and the food was not up to the mark (for dosa).
We also ordered sizzling brownie, and it felt rotten. We asked if it can be taken back and they refused. Since I did not want to create a fight in front of closed ones, I decided to pay for it and asked for the bill, but they did not include the sizzling brownie in the bill (and that is why I am giving them two stars instead of one star). People are well behaved, but the food was not good.
This place is in a cycle where they don't have fresh ingredients; and because they don't have fresh ingredients, they don't have any customers; and because they don't have customers, they have...
