The customer service of Bakes n brews continues to disappoint and degrade year after year. I have been coming here from the past 5 years but after frequent unprofessional instances especially over the past 2 years I began to wonder if it’s even worth all the commotion.
I recently pre-ordered a truffle cake for a birthday 3 days in advance. On the date of takeaway, I informed them 1 hour in advance that I will be coming 3 hours late from the decided time due to heavy rain, and the receptionist acknowledged. After 3 hours, when I did arrive to get the cake, they told me that they had already sold it to someone else, even after I informed them of the late arrival.
When I asked them why, they responded that I did not make it on the decided time, so they sold it to some other buyer. They didn’t even bother to call me if I am coming or not to get the cake.
On top of that, their unprofessional, unapologetic, unashamed attitude towards their negligence and the audacity to suggest me to buy another cake of a completely opposite kind (the cream-rich cakes) shot dead any respect and affinity I had for the cafe and its employees.
Most of the staff is well-natured and a delight to interact with but due to the negligence of 2-3 rude, unprofessional employees. I am afraid Bakes N Brews will continue to...
Read moreMe and my family swung by Bakes and Brews in the evening, while finding a good spot to have coffee in Dharamshala! This place is easy to spot. The bright signage right off the main road, though, parking your own car can feel like winning the lottery here lol. Lucky for us, that we got a space along the road to park.
We got Chicken Tikka Sandwich and Veg Club Sandwich, plus an Aloo Puff and some Peri-Peri Fries.
The Chicken Tikka Sandwich was packed with juicy, smoky chicken and surprisingly, I loved it! The Veg Club was no joke either - it was packed with veggies, cheese and bread toasted nicely so it didn’t get soggy. Both were super filling!
The Peri-Peri Fries came out hot and crispy, dusted with just enough spice to keep things great. And the Aloo Puff was flaky (as it should be) and its spiced potato filling was nice too.
For the drinks: We went with Hot Cappuccinos (perfect foam-to-coffee ratio) and Cold Frappuccinos that tasted just like a good old cold coffee. Neither was blowing any minds but both hit the spot and kept the vibe mellow.
It’s not the biggest or fanciest spot in Dharamshala but it nails the essentials: great sandwiches, crisp fries and coffee that hits the spot. If you’re in the area and need a friendly place to recharge, this little café is definitely worth...
Read moreExtremely Disappointed – A Nightmare Experience I’ve been a loyal customer of this bakery/cafe for years, and it used to be one of my go-to places. However, my recent visit was an absolute nightmare and hands down one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had.
I ordered a paneer tikka sandwich something I’ve had here countless times before. To my shock, I was served a chicken tikka sandwich instead. As a strict vegetarian, this was not just unacceptable it was deeply upsetting.
When I confronted the staff about the mix-up, instead of taking responsibility or offering an apology, the person at the counter chose to argue with me and refused to acknowledge the mistake. There was zero accountability, professionalism, or even basic courtesy.
It’s beyond disappointing to see how the quality of service has drastically declined with the new staff.
Please take this seriously. Train your staff properly, hire people who understand the importance of accuracy and respect, and take accountability when things go wrong.
I sincerely hope you fix this before more people have to go through such a...
