I've been to this restaurant several times, perhaps everytime I visited Manali. The first thing that attracts is it's Bohemian aura, specially the riverside bistro seating. Last time I ordered Schintzel (A fried Chicken breast dish basically from Austria- Germany brought by resettled Jews in Israel) with Humus & Fattoush salad. I love Levantine cuisine specially Jewish-Palestinian cuisine as it's not too spicy and colorful.
I don't consume alcohol so I can't say anything about that but I can guarantee that you'll come back again and again as this is one of the best café that serves closest to the authentic Israeli mezza in the entire Manali. Regarding the prices, it's not as much high as people are cribbing( Refund loaders)over Zomato. For a Quality food, the prices are aptly fixed.
Things that they need to focus is Service and time. The servers had no expression, absolutely blank which I've observed in past as well as well as from others POV. They need to train them how to be a great host. Second, they take too much time to bring food to your table but I understand that due to overwhelming demand and limited employees sometimes it does take too much time to prepare food. They need to hire more experienced people in and outside the kitchen to run and grow the business. In short, This is a great spot to relax and enjoy as a solo traveller. You can come with your partner and if your parents are open minded, you can bring them here. My parents did came in Summers and they loved it too.
Thank you...
Read moreFrom the outside Café Evergreen looks like a small place. Once you step inside you're surprised by its spaciousness. Seating is at two levels, an interior space with wide glass windows, good for chilly days, and a lower L-shaped corridor with intimate seating and sloping roof, but otherwise open to the elements. The view from both levels is awesome, as it overlooks the fast-flowing Manaslu river, but the ambience from the lower level is breathtaking. I took a place at the lower level, with its beautiful green carpeted floor, bamboo hanging lamps and was delighted to discover that I was within sniffing distance of the olive green waters of the Manaslu. In winter, you'll enjoy the sight of snow-covered forests and rocks in the river. I ordered a milk coffee, as the dishes and drinks looked pricey. For the price, it was a rather small cup of coffee with no exceptional taste. I'd asked for brown sugar, but the restaurant unfortunately didn't have any. I'd still return for its glorious riverview, comfortable seating and pleasant interiors. The menu is wide with something to please both foreign and Indian tourists. There is a small hut at the entrance with a counter for baked goods and cakes, a plus for...
Read moreThis cafe experience was beyond horrifying. My friend and I were casually exploring Old Manali on June 21st, 2024, when we stumbled upon a nightmarish scene that shook us to our core. Imagine this: waitstaff, supposedly there to serve customers, were violently assaulting a young man right in the open. It was like witnessing a scene from a crime thriller, except it was real and right in front of us.
Without a moment's hesitation, we rushed in to intervene, only to become victims ourselves. The staff mistook us for accomplices and started pummeling us too. It was sheer chaos, with fists flying and no regard for human decency.
If we hadn't stepped in, that poor soul—barely in his mid-20s or 30s—might not have made it out alive. The whole incident reeked of an organized crime operation straight out of a mobster movie. These ruthless thugs are evidently running the show there, turning what could be a quaint cafe into a danger zone.
Needless to say, we will never forget this horrific encounter. It's a stark reminder of the dangers lurking in seemingly innocent places. For the sake of your safety and sanity, steer clear of this cafe and any others where such brutalities might lurk beneath...
