The German Bakery-Café Lavazza at Naggar is an absolute delight. Located in the tiny market beside the Naggar Castle, it's a great place for not just great coffee, but also people-watching or just curling up with a book on its ultra-comfy sofas and diwans. There's warm-mood lighting, wooden floors, wooden wainscot, plenty of wood on the ceiling and everywhere else. In a word, this café in the small, but pretty mountain town of Naggar, has state of the art design, that spells class. There's a mix of indoor and outdoor seating. An outdoor seating area, overlooking the Naggar Castle Road, Naggar's main drag, is great for people-watching during the season. Another outdoor seating area, overlooks a large lawn, and traditional village houses of Naggar, and maybe useful for smokers. The indoor seating area, with its warm hues, is great for chilly winter and monsoon days. It has a variety of seating from high bar stools, formal table-stiff chair arrangements to comfortable sofas and equally comfortable low diwans with brightly patterned cushions, arranged along the wall. There's a small library, just in case you forgot to pack a book for the trip. I ordered a cappuccino, which was hot and the best cappuccino I'd had in a long time. It certainly lived up to the Lavazza name and reputation. I settled down with Kawaguchi's magical novel, "Before the Coffee gets Cold". A very apt read with the tasty...
Read moreWe had stopped here last year when we visited Naggar, Kullu in #Himachal Pradesh. This time things were different. We were avoiding #cafes and restaurants. But this bakery had sitting arrangement in an open balcony. Moreover, after the corona hibernation, they had opened for business that morning, maybe half an hour before we reached. The café had subtle artful décor and opened up to the mountain road. Everything looked clean and there was only one chappie at the counter. We had to order with him and then get our grub from the counter when that was ready.
Since they had just opened they were not as well-stocked as they were when we had come earlier. Nonetheless, we had a slice each of apple pie and #cheesecake. We also had their honey lemon #tea that we had loved from last time. Every item was fresh and tasty. We loved the honey lemon tea and the cheesecake. Talking about cheese, this time they also had a ring of #homemade #cheese at the counter. We tasted a little bit. It was solid yet very fragrant and was the sort that would go well in #sandwich or salad. We packed many slices of cheese for home and friends. The cheese is still giving us a lot of...
Read moreNestled in the heart of charm, this cafe radiates delightful vibes, drawing in patrons from far and wide with its enticing display of freshly baked goods and an array of palatable delights. Its strategic location adjacent to Naggar Castle offers a dual treat – a charming ambiance within and sweeping mountain views beyond. A frequent visitor during my Naggar sojourn, I embarked on a culinary journey, savoring their delectable hot chocolate, refreshing plum juice, and an assortment of flavorsome treats. While the bruschetta fell short of expectations, every other dish delighted my taste buds. Capitalizing on the free WiFi, I turned the cafe into a temporary office, working on my laptop amidst the cozy ambiance. Besides savoring the culinary offerings, the cafe encourages interaction, offering board games, a library of books, and a chance to connect with fellow travelers—a haven of both gastronomic and social...
