I’ve been following bakeronthehill for a really long time and have always admired her work. She’s been a huge inspiration, and I’ve reached out multiple times in the past to order cakes but never had the chance. Finally, for an urgent family celebration yesterday, we needed two birthday cakes (2 kgs each) and decided to go ahead with her.
They confirmed they had slots and shared the flavour options—I was excited and ordered two different flavours, clearly mentioning that these were for birthdays. I even asked if they could do simple decorations, and while I didn’t like the samples they shared, I sent them my own references.
The next day, the cakes were ready earlier than promised. But when we went to pick them up at 5:00 PM, we were shocked—there was no “Happy Birthday” message or tag on either cake. When questioned, they casually asked us to “come back another day” for the message, despite already knowing it was for a birthday. For a premium, customised order, this was extremely careless.
What stood out most was the attitude—rather than making us feel valued, the interaction made it seem like they were doing us a favour by even taking the order. Unlike other home bakers who are warm, patient, and genuinely interested in customising, this entire process felt dismissive and disappointing.
And then came the real letdown—the cakes themselves. As soon as we cut into them, they completely crumbled apart. They were dry, lacked moisture, and didn’t hold their shape at all. Definitely not the standard you’d expect from a reputed baker.
Overall, this was a huge disappointment. Having tried many home bakers before, I’ve never been this let down. Sadly, I would not recommend this...
Read moreHome bakers from Hyderabad are not just baking but they are killing it. Be it the flavors, be it the presentation and the options they throw at you, are far better than some hi-class bakeries hands down. Their passion and hard work speak volumes of finesse in their products and almost every home baker I have tried have mighty impressed. Here I'm with a lovely royal black/gold box from The baker on the hill run by passionate Pastry chef Aditi Punetha.
Their delivery itself promised professionalism and that box packaging was impressive. I got 3 items below
#SaltedCaramel - A small cute jar and as I opened it up, the aroma caught in and one spoon I'm in foodgasm. This is the most straightforward and purest one I have ad. I added a spoon to my regular coffee & OH MAN !!! no words.
#RosemaryShortBreads - butter cookies with a hint of rosemary. You never can imagine rosemary in biscuits but this one broke that myth for me. Subtle rosemary flavor knocks you in every bite and they are super rich.
#DevilsChocolateTrifle - chocolate sponge layered cake with rich Belgian chocolate ganache & mousse. If you are chocolate, THIS IS YOUR HEAVEN period. Dark, a bit tarty but super rich, super royal choco flavors. The overall thick trifle makes you want to eat more until U R IN CHOCOLATE HEAVEN.
I'm still astonished at the perfection she has put into her products. Home Bakers are the pride of Hyderabad and she would be definitely amongst the forerunners. Thanks The baker on the hill for these yummy goodies and I wish nothing but great success. Keep creating smiles with your delicacies.
DESSERT IS ART. DESSERT IS LOVE....
Read moreI recently attended a bread-making workshop at Baker on a Hill, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience. Led by Aditi, an incredibly skilled and patient instructor, the session was far more than just a demonstration—it was a fully immersive, hands-on experience that made every step of the bread-making process engaging and accessible.
From the very beginning, Aditi ensured that we understood not just the how but also the why behind each step. She covered essential techniques that every beginner needs to know, from kneading and proofing to understanding hydration levels and fermentation. Along the way, she shared countless tips, tricks, and hacks that will undoubtedly make a huge difference when baking at home.
What truly stood out was the balance between structured guidance and the freedom to work with the dough ourselves. It wasn’t just about watching and following instructions—we were encouraged to feel, adjust, and learn through practice. By the end of the workshop, we had freshly baked loaves straight out of the oven, filling the space with the most comforting aroma. And the taste? Absolutely worth every bit of effort!
This workshop exceeded my expectations in every way. If you’re even remotely interested in baking bread, I can’t recommend it enough. I’m leaving with a newfound confidence and excitement to bake my own bread at home. Looking forward to putting these skills...
