Dwaraka Tiffins — Restaurant in Hyderabad

Usually the place is fine.. Other than a mild neatness issue, that was always there.

But recently, I ordered a single idli, single wada at the place. The lady LAKSHMI, who gives out parcels at the counter outside the tiffin centre, with her street side attitude, packed the wrong parcel for me.

Apparently, they don’t have a coupon for single idli, single wada. So, I mentioned specifically as the owner said to mention it. The lady absent mindedly packed 3 idlis.

I was taking the parcel for somebody else , so I took it back and confronted the lady. Instead of admitting that she was wrong, she starts saying that’s what’s on the coupon. The owner started calling her but the lady says she won’t go..🤣😅 “She will go later”, she says. A random customer gets involved (coz they do in India) and says “ichheyachu kada amma” (“You can pack the needful right amma”) .. Then, batti jali moment, she does it reluctantly.

After all this, I return and she packs a chipped off idli. Had to throw it out and serve only wada. This is “Dwaraka - service”. How can a woman do that while packing a parcel ?!

‼️❓Whether it was INTENTIONAL on Lakshmi’s part, to chip it off under the table, is my question to the owner ‼️❓‼️‼️

It’s a shame, coz the food is not that bad.

We get it !! It’s no five star hotel but that doesn’t mean, they pack chipped off idlis and blame the customer for taking a parcel that’s not on their coupons. That also doesn’t mean, we are okay with misbehaving rowdy ladies acting like they are our boss.

Basic etiquettes are necessary, whether it’s 5 star or street style. The woman doesn’t listen to the owner when he calls out. Such disobedience.!!! Why hire and enable...

This tiffin centre is very best, very old tiffin centre and it is a true gem in Vidyanagar . When it comes to authentic South Indian cuisine. This is in Vidhya nagar road on the way to adikmet/Ram nagar gundu. I gave 2 star not because of taste. Taste wise it is ok and busy one in this area. They accept only cash no online payment . Intentions are clear that they don't want to pay tax . Roadside business illiterate people are accepting paytm/google pay etc but this guy needs only cash. Moreover he won't give you sambar for parcel. Only for sambar idly they give sambar otherwise they don't mind you. They will pour a watery potato curry on a flat cover and will place poori on top of it for parcel too. They won't parcel potato curry separately for which you need to pay 45 to 50 rs....
