Friends Food Restaurant, located on the bustling DLF Road in Hyderabad, is a hidden gem for those with a penchant for Tamil cuisine with an innovative twist. This unpretentious eatery may not boast an ornate ambiance or luxurious seating, but what it lacks in decor, it more than makes up for with its culinary offerings.
At Friends Food, the experience is unique – it's a place where self-service is part of the charm. Finding a spot to sit might require a bit of effort, especially during peak hours, but it’s a small trade-off for the food that awaits. The restaurant thrives on simplicity, focusing entirely on delivering exceptionally good food at prices that are surprisingly reasonable.
The menu is a delightful exploration of Tamil cuisine, punched up with an array of spices and fusion elements that will tantalize your taste buds. Each dish represents a culinary experiment where traditional South Indian flavors meet an eclectic mix of global influences. While the ambiance is basic, the flavors are anything but. The restaurant requires patrons to help themselves with refills of their delicious South Indian chutneys, adding to the homely, down-to-earth feel of the place.
Don't expect a luxury dining experience here; instead, come for the authentic, hearty meals that are served with a side of simplicity. The staff, though busy, are friendly and the service is efficient. The charm of Friends Food lies in its straightforward approach to food – good quality, incredible taste, and pocket-friendly prices.
I recommend Friends Food Restaurant to anyone in Hyderabad craving authentic Tamil cuisine with a twist. It’s a must-visit at least once, not for a conventional dining experience, but for the joy of discovering how simple, good food can triumph over frills. It’s perfect for casual outings where the focus is purely on enjoying some of the best fusion Tamil dishes...
Read moreA friend of mine suggested me this place. Its a small place, a veranda converted into an eating joint, with plastic tables and stool for seating. Normally such places are a no fuss eating joints which serve some good pocket friendly food. I must say, this place did just that.
I was confused to see a huge variety of dosas, idlis, parottas, idiyappams and took some time deciding on what to order. I was craving some parottas and therefore, decided to go for the Chicken Kothu(this one is shredded) parantha. The food took some time to arrive (I think the server forgot to place it initially). The parotta was mushly, with good amount of chicken minced and shredded with it. It was light on spice and was served with coconut chutney and sambar, which went well with the dish.
Along with this, I had ordered Appam Coconut Milk. Again, the guy at the counter forgot to place the order to the guy cooking. Meanwhile, I had gotten quite full and decided to go for the Pal(Milk) Parotta instead of the appam. This was a wonderful end to my dinner. The parotta was generously garnished with Nestle MilkMaid, which gave it the sweetness and the parotta itself was smooth and went well with the sweetness of the garnish. This dish is a must try and is right up there in my list of desserts. Would definitely have this again.
Me being me, I could not resist myself from having the ever so light and fluffy appam. After waiting for a while and with my mouth full of sweetness(almost too sweet), I had to have the Appam Coconut Milk. It worked well to lessen the sweetness of the Pal Parotta and was delightfully soft and air-like. Loved it.
I do suggest you come with a group to enjoy the variety that is on display here. Full marks for the food. A mark deducted for cleanliness and service which could definitely have...
Read moreThe first time I visted this place was in 2018 where we used to come here as team and have Tamil nadu food.
Now visiting after 5years many things have changed here.
Food quality is awesome. You can get the same tamilnadu style food here.
Exspecially the Paratta and Dhosa varities are awesome. Kothu paratta I think we don't have any othrr place in hyderabad.
The quanity seems to be reduced a bit in recent days. But not the quality.
Belive me you can save a lot. Now we come like 2-3people the total bill will not more more than 300. Such a budget friendly place in hyderabad.
Its a evening time hotel they operate starting 5.30PM untill 1 or 2 AM.
There are somethings to improved as well. 1.Plastic cups were used for Sambar and Chutneys. Can be avoided. 2.Water Jugs can be provied for each table. 3.The front side can be cleaned and can be used for parking. Parking is bit of a problem if you are visiting during weekend. If you are taking a car it is tough to find a parking space.
