Food trucks are common throughout the world. Most often, they are associated with ethnic street food, they provide affordable, comforting food that is relatively simple to prepare. Today, food trucks come in every type of cuisine which is consumable, from short rib tacos to fried desserts to gourmet lunch boxes. Food trucks have gained the much needed buzz since the 2008 recession hit the world, and are as much of a restaurant concept as family style dining or fast food. Given the low cost, many restaurateurs are now making shift to the idea of opening a food truck business, which is now regarded as a respectable venue for starting a career in the food & beverage industry. Today, food trucks offer a myriad of menu options, from burgers to wraps to waffles and what not. Going beyond street food cuisine, food trucks now cater to all tastes, offering gourmet, locally sourced, artisan menu items. Moreover, food trucks keep popping up in Hyderabad every now and then offering plenty of options for all those foodies out there. While they remain common in busy urban centers, they can also be found in suburban and rural areas. Such is a similiar story of Panchakattu Dosa, a food truck which offers authentic Rayalaseema based Dosas. They are located on Road No. 44 with close proximity to State Art Gallery. This food truck completely changes the idea of the food truck by offering some real & authentic Rayalaseema styled Karam dosas which are very popular in the city of Hyderabad. Panchakattu Dosa has been incepted by Naga Bharana Chilamakuri, a resident of Tadipatri, a town in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh, who earlier was working for working for a firm which produced ERP based solutions for eaters. Ramana Dosa, an outlet which is based out of Bharan's hometown gave him the idea of opening up Panchakattu Dosa food truck in Hyderabad. They have started their operation in July 2019 & its been just two months Panchakattu has become the most talked about food truck in the town & the most sought after place for breakfast & evening snacks places. The prices of the items start from Rs 35 onwards, thereby making the entire spread of the options at affordable range. The list of options start off with Uggani, Karam Dosa, Uttapam, Idli & Vadas. However, the star among this is the variation of Karam Dosa which includes Ghee, Onion, Masala etc, and all of these have a layer of Erra Karam, a red toned chutney made from chillies and onions. But as soon as one hears chillies, it takes all our tastes a seat back. To balance this, a layer of Pappuli Podi is sprinkled over the dosas or uttapams so that the chilly flavours gets nuetralized. Another popular option is Uggani is served here which shouldn't be missed at all. Uggani is a dish made out of puffed rice with spicy masala to give that needed spicesness in the dish. Their main USP is the ingredients for the Karam being prepared is brought directly from Tadipatri, thereby maintaining the quality of the items, and this is the reason this food truck is go-to options for many folks. Panchakktu promises on delivering an authentic Rayalaseema breakfast experience onto a person's plate and it does justice to the same in all aspects. I would definitely recommend this place for all those spicy food lovers, yet a subtle balance of flavours...
Read morePanchakattu is a food truck serving authentic Rayalaseema breakfast mainly focusing on karam dosas, located at a walkable distance from Annapurna studio, Banjara Hills this foodtruck has a seating capacity of around 15-20 people with wooden stools and benches, everything is hygienic and well maintained and they make sure there's no compromise in quality as well as quantity, the pricing is very affordable! Coming to the food we got our hands on Ghee Karam Idly, Uttapam, Neyyi Karam Palyam Dosa, Nannari and Junnu ! Their Erra Karam Chutney is something that you shouldn't miss it's made of onions and chillies which is an ultimatum that's what makes them stand apart from others! I must say it's for the spice lovers well coming from Rayalaseema atleast that spice level is expected ! I really loved Ghee Idly a lot !!! Hot piping idly topped with fresh ghee and Putnala Podi (powder base made of Bengal Gram and other spices) served along with Pallila(Peanuts) chutney and Erra Karam(Red chillies) Chutney ! This is a must try if you're at panchakattu ! Now talking about what they're actually famous for Neyyi Karam Palyam Dosa a thin crispy dosa consisting of Ghee, a layer of Erra Karam Chutney and then Potato Masala followed by Putnala Podi ! It was served with Pallila chutney and bombay chutney (made of gram flour and spices). This dosa when paired with chutney just melts in your mouth! It was packed with flavours and so delectable ! Well I'm not a big fan of uttapam but I've always had this feeling that uttapam is so heavy and dense but when I tasted uttapam here I think I need to change my opinion because this was way lot lighter and soft in texture!! Nannari is a fizzy drink made of a herb root called sarasaparilla, the roots are cleaned and boiled in water, to make syrup! Now this syrup is added along with a dash of lime and soda! This was refreshing, a lil sweet and also is very beneficial! Junnu is a pudding made of colostrum milk and has a hint of pepper powder !! This was decent with mild sweetness ! Well if you're someone who really likes spice or who really loves South Indian breakfasts then you should surely visit...
Read moreThe name 'Pancha Kattu Dosa' definitely adds some amount of curiosity to check out this place. Surprised to find this small joint inside a compound of a commercial building, (see image it says ebony hotel). Since it is in the vicinity of annapoorna studios, and few corporate offices there would be a flow of visitors to have idly, dosa and coffee. The hype is more because of the name. (check google translate for language translation of pancha kattu). About our dosa and idli order, the dosa was karam palyam dosa which is similar to mysuru masala dosa except that the karam was typical rayalseema flavour. also a first for the city cbd area. The rayalseema region which the owner bharan explained is from Kurnool, Anantapur, kadapa and chitoor which shares border with karnataka. the overlap in flavours and taste is but natural. the idli was very in Andhra in preparation but this one without the. podi and ghee did not hit home. We ordered the famous 'nannari' drink , another popular item from rayalseema to down our food. Priced at INR 50 per glass, it was good. The dosa price was steep for a 'street food' type of place If they reduced the price and the number of staff lingering behind the preparation counter it would work better. One cannot help but notice that. only one person was actually pouring the dosa batter over the large base. The make-shift arrangement to dine-in is minimal, but may not be practical during monsoon. But the effort in trying to give neat food fare was not gone unnoticed. This place is going to stay and satiate a lot of the Telugu...
