If you wish to have authentic south Indian tiffins of soft idlis, crisp wadas, thin and crispy dosas served with coconut and ginger chutney, this is a place you should not miss. This place, as I noticed, reaches its customers via both Zomato & Swiggy and has a place to dine in.
We got our first order delivered through Zomato. The freshness, despite the fact that they use food grade packaging material, is and can not be same. More so, seems Varalakshmi provides great margins to these online delivery platforms as is evident from price difference between food eaten at the tiffin centre right from the tawa/kadhai/steamer and food delivered by the online platforms.
Our experience of physically visiting Varalakshmi was soothing and rewarding. Located on the second floor (no lifts; stairs are easy to climb), the dining area is on an open terrace. With a bit of chill in the atmosphere, sitting with family and having steaming idli, crisp wada and equally crisp dosa was a bit surreal in Hyderabad these days. It did leave a pleasant after taste.
One advice - Be patient. The owner lady, dignified in her demeanour, would remind the master/cook for getting order prepared and served. We found the gesture humbling, in our case, when after 10 mins of placing the order not single dish was served. My mother in law, who has spent almost her entire life in northern and western parts of India, experienced great flavour and taste in the food.

Read moreThis is on the chaitanyapuri shalivahananagar road, owner behaviour is very arrogant, shouting at customers. Waiting time is too high. Cost for 3 idlis is 45 for parcel, extra charges for parcel. When I went for the first time, I asked him about the extra charges for parcel and he was like starring at me as if I'm asking him a lame question and started explaining me in a bad tone about all his expenditures. Who on earth in Hyderabad is charging extra for parcel of idlis On my second visit, I gave the owner the parcel token and then another boy asked me what I want? I just answered him I already gave a token for a parcel and then the owner came back to me shouting why I am ordering twice as if I'm asking that boy to parcel me my tiffin. Both times his behaviour is very arrogant. I'm not going here again for the cost and...
Read moreI recently discovered that Varalakshmi Tiffins has expanded with franchises, and I decided to give it a try. Walking in with high hopes, I was delighted to find that they fully lived up to my expectations.
The variety of tiffins they offer is not only tasty but truly yummy. Each dish was prepared with care and attention to flavor, leaving me wanting more with every bite.
While the food was exceptional, I couldn’t help but notice that the ambience could use a bit of improvement. However, this minor flaw didn’t overshadow the overall experience.
In conclusion, my visit to Varalakshmi Tiffins was a delightful one, reminiscent of the same taste and quality I’ve come to expect from their flagship outlet in DLF. For anyone craving delicious tiffins, this place is a...
