I generally don’t post reviews when service falls slightly below expectation. After COVID, it has unfortunately become common in India for many businesses to provide sub-standard service at premium prices. However, I felt compelled to write this review because the experience with Vivaha Bhojanambu Banquet Hall was far worse than just “slightly below expectation.” Their management is unprofessional, unethical, and greedy, and I want others to avoid going through the same ordeal.
I was out of station and had asked my wife to check the hall and negotiate the price. She finalized guest count and pricing with their staff and left to explore other options. Later in the evening, I spoke with someone over WhatsApp (who turned out to be the MD), but he was completely unaware of the discussion his staff had already had with my wife. The communication gap within their own team was shocking. Instead of accepting the agreed terms, the MD behaved arrogantly and unprofessionally, even scolding his staff. Out of fear, the staff requested us to add five extra guests just to pacify the MD. To help them save face, we agreed—something we now regret.
Service delivery aside, professionalism is the basic expectation. Unfortunately, this place failed miserably on that front.
Another major issue was their catering approach. Instead of handling it like a banquet service, they ran it with a petty restaurant mentality. Despite charging premium prices (40–50% higher than regular catering services), their portions were ridiculously small. Welcome drinks were served half-glass, and sweets like bobbatlu were made tiny and provided only as per the exact guest count—no margin, no generosity. Banquet catering is not the same as running a restaurant; people expect items like snacks, desserts, and sweets to be served amply. But here, they tried to save at every step, even though our actual turnout was less than half the committed number of guests.
What’s worse—they refused to adjust guest count even when the turnout was so low, despite us already agreeing to additional guests just to accommodate their mismanagement. They didn’t even prepare food based on actual attendance. Their only interest seemed to be squeezing money out of customers without delivering value.
As an NRI, I had a flight the same night and couldn’t take this further legally. Otherwise, I would have pursued this matter in court to expose their business practices.
My only request to others: do not encourage such unethical, greedy, and unprofessional merchants. There are many better-managed banquet halls and catering services out there. Save yourself the stress and avoid Vivaha Bhojanambu Banquet Hall, A....
Read moreOur first time visiting Vivaha Bhojambu at AS Rao Nagar. Even more interesting is that, it is the first restaurant that we have been to since the lockdown. We may have visited a little early for lunch around 1230 hrs. However, lunch was ready. No temperature checking nor sanitizer at the entrance. There was a sanitizer stand at the entrance of the building though. Interestingly, our welcome drink was the herbal concoction (kashayam) and it was good. Upon requesting for hot water, the same was served in disposable glasses. We had ordered the vegetarian and non vegetarian meal. The vegetarian meal had the regulars. The chutney served was tad bit spicy. However considering the current weather, it is alright I reckon. About the non vegetarian meal, we were served with all the regulars. The chicken fry was alright I could say and the meat didn't feel fresh. The mutton was yet again alright. The fish pulusu could have been a lot better. The best includes of the meal was the dal (having it with hot rice and ghee), nothing can beat that and the next best one was the prawn fry. Prawn fry was absolutely great in terms of taste flavor and quantity. Considering my previous visit to Vivaha Bhojanam at Parklane, I feel the taste needs to get a lot better. Not disappointing. However, not very satisfying either considering the expectations one has when visiting...
Read moreThis is a great place for a family dinner. It doesn't seem to have place for too many people but there's no shortage in incoming diners. I would recommend calling before and asking for a reservation beforehand just in case, so you don't have to wait too long for a table. The overall feel of the place was great! The table and chairs were neatly maintained and comfortable to sit in. I liked the copper colored glasses. They really gave a good village vibe that I can't explain.
Service was fast and the staff was friendly and forthcoming. They gave good specific recommendations when asked about what dishes were good and they certainly were good. We didn't have to wait too long for any of the dishes and everything was served within 10-15 minutes of ordering.
The food was pretty nice! There were quite the variety of starters and each one was unique in its presentation and flavor. Ask and try out the recommendations and you wont be disappointed. The curries and pulaos were also good but the starters were the true star. For drinks, the milkshakes and fruit punch were great!
Overall, this place is a good restaurant for a family night out. The atmosphere is nice and the food...
