Despite hearing great reviews about ‘The Fort’, my experience at the establishment was quite disappointing. We had chosen the restaurant for my sister’s anniversary dinner and what a bummer that turned out to be.

We were running late so we expected to let go of the reservation of 12 people we had made because of high volume of guests incoming at the restaurant. However, what we didn’t expect was that we were going to be seated in such a disorderly fashion. By the time all of us showed up, the initial 10 minutes of our evening were used up in arrange more chairs (and tables) by the staff which didn’t very enthusiastic to help their guests.

But this was not all, [ ] The outdoor coolers weee so loud that conversing with the rest of the group seemed impossible. [ ] The servers kept dropping food, utensils and water bottles on us [ ] They needed to be called (read yell) several times in order for them to hear us [ ] We were given only 4 menus for a table of 12 people. [ ] The most disgusting of them all was, one of the servers dropped another table’s dirty napkin on ours while we were eating and pretended not to notice until we asked to clean it up. [ ] The starters, especially the dahi ke kebab and spring roll, tasted unappetising and spoiled frankly.

So after all this, we wanted to leave so we asked for the bill.

Since the bill came before the packing instructions were given, the staff later came up (after almost all of us had left) and asked for a packing fee. The waiter mentioned this was they charge for packing and then took another 5 minutes to hesitantly bring the bill and the card machine.

Obviously this issue had to be raised to the manager so when he called upon his staff, they kept mentioning that the packaging fee was rather created and we were asked for the money after we had shown the bill.

It genuinely seems bizarre to me how when a guest who has paid 7.5k for a dinner, they would battle for another 40? What is this to prove, that guests were lying because they had to pay another 40?

We expected an experience of high caliber from both the service and the kitchen at a place which such a rave reviews. As a person who has previously worked in hospitality, this was quite an abysmal affair and the service & management during rush hours really...
