I'm always wary of hotel restaurants. Often feel they can't create the vibe and flavour of local food. Went to Shrot for ala carte lunch, buffet dinner and buffet breakfast. The food was fantastic. I loved the fact it wasn't your usual Indian food. The influences of Rajasthan were so well brought out. Each dish had a story about it and i would've never thought about some of the dishes. The local inspired ingredients were definitely new to me. The breads were different too. You had Bajra and other grains too which was unique. Plus the rock salt and things like fresh local white butter and jaggery. Overall it was great. Service was well paced, while some would like it faster it gave us an opportunity to relax and enjoy our meal. The breakfast was good too. I was surprised at the fresh bread, croissants and other rolls which were definitely baked on property ( each one was slightly different, and the imperfections were cute , not mass produced)and were excellent. Right up there with pastries in Europe. Excellent with their cappuccino. I hope the property let's the bakery experiment more. They had Indian breakfast staples like pav bhaji, chole bhature, dosa, kadi and poha etc. Plus, unknown to me initially but all types of eggs, pancakes, waffles and kachoris etc. Like it was a huge selection. Definitely get their crispy bacon. Again never seen in India.
Service again was fantastic..the hospitality in India is just next level really, and it's evident here in the restaurant. Vandana, Rajendra and the gentleman who served us the first lunch (I couldn't get his name but it started with a P I think) went out of their way. Special mention to the bar staff, who are passionate about their cocktails, again rarity in India. I'd love for them to have a cocktail night. Things that can take this to the next level, their pastries were so good. Would've been great to have a way to get them hot Outta the oven. It's a tough thing for any bakery to do, but I would kill for a warm croissant right now Nothing more really. For a new restaurant in a new property, i always expect teething troubles, but nothing that the wonderful food, service and a little patience didn't solve. To put this review in context, I normally spend over 100 nights each year in different hotels and have different statuses in most chains ... except the Hyatt. So sure I've had better, but combined with the location, the service, live music and hospitality... It was memorable. Edit- that milk cake.... It was mind blowing. Definitely a selection for my last meal. Have it, ask for...
Read moreOne of the main highlights of the whole trip to Jaipur was our stay at this grandeur of a hotel that is @hyattregencyjaipurmansarovar . Half of us wanted to experience a haveli stay as per the culture while other half had to have a brand with a five star experience. We narrowed down on this after many considerations and so glad we did. The early morning sight of pigeons gleefully bathing in the courtyard, one by one, and then taking off together, was a treat to the tiredness of the previous day. I’d make sure I start my day with this spectacle, while calming music played in their fragrant property where everyone would greet you with a welcoming smile. The whole staff, be it house-keeping, kitchen, restaurants, front-desk and even at the gate and valet, is extremely cordial. You’re spoiled for choices at their buffets. Even if you have a la carte preferences, they’ll make sure it is catered to, at SHROT, which is their main restaurant, along with a roof top restaurant called The North Club, which serves outwardly sunsets on good weather days. They have The Royal Bakery and Bar too, for your conversations and quality times over fresh brews. I don’t think our vacation would’ve been this amazing if it wasn’t for our stay at Hyatt. Highly...
Read moreWe went for dinner in Shrot with a foreigner. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, with a nicely laid out sitting arrangement. There are few places, where a group of 6-7 people can have some kind of isolation within the restaurant. Since we were 5 people, we selected one such place. We ordered Soup of the day, Kadhai Subz, Gatte curry, Dhumsari Dal, Tandoori Roti, Nan and missi roti. All were tasty. The service was good, particularly the lady, Vandana, was very caring. The complimentary start-up was too good. On the flip side, we found quantity of items on the lesser side. The prices were high, probably it being part of a five star hotel. Overall it was appx. Rs 1100 per head including tax (Vegetarian food). I recommend visiting this restaurant if you have foreigner guests or on special occasions, if you can afford paying five star prices for the food items!! Parking is not...
