One of my most unexpected and memorable experiences in Srinagar happened on my last day there. My wife and I were looking for some special Kashmiri sweets and cookies to take home. Since it was Ramadan, most shops were closing early, but we managed to reach JAN Bakery just in time. Although they were about to close, they welcomed us warmly, treating us like family.

We had the pleasure of meeting Jaan Sir, the owner—a kind and humble man. As we chatted about food and Srinagar’s culture, he recommended a great restaurant for dinner. He also gave us a tour of his bakery, where we got to taste a variety of cookies and sweets. The flavours, textures, and colours were simply amazing! To make our experience even more special, Jan Sir introduced us to his family, who were just as warm and hospitable.

The highlight of the evening came when we had to return to Lal Chowk, where we had parked our car. Since it was Ramadan, I asked Jan Sir if we could find an auto-rickshaw. To our surprise, he immediately offered to drop us off! One of his incredible employees personally took us to Lal Chowk, making us feel so valued and cared for.

Being a chef and from a hospitality background, i know it's very easy to make dish tasty. But its very difficult to make bond with customer and give them the best service.

This was our first visit, yet we were treated with such kindness and generosity—it was truly heartwarming. A huge thank you to Jan Sir and his team for turning a simple visit into an unforgettable memory. Next time, whenever i come to shrinagar, i will definitely gonna visit here and gonna meet with you
