Last Sunday we decided to try BBK at Jamshedpur. My unbiased comments regarding my experience are given below:
We ordered Kolkata biriyani 1 kg, and the food was delivered within about 1hr 15min, which was as per the promise (60-90 min). We mentioned our preference as “less oil”, and indeed, the oil was much less. Quantity – they mentioned in their website that 1 kg is for serving 2-3 persons, but actually I and my wife, only two persons consumed the last grain of rice – so, it was no way suitable for 3 persons – I think the quantity is not even sufficient for two young and healthy guys. Inside the rice – 4 pieces of mutton, two boiled eggs, and two pieces of potato – the number of these fillings itself suggests that the so called 1 kg is for two persons only – unless you order 1 kg biriyani with some other items like kabab, korma, paratha, etc., it cannot serve 3 persons. Mutton pieces were very small, and full of bones. Potato pieces were extraordinarily small. Now, taste – at the best I would give 3 out of 10. I am born and brought up in Kolkata, and so, I know very well how an authentic Kolkata biriyani should taste. Forget about the famous biriyani outlets like Arsalan, Aminia, Siraj, etc., even any roadside small restaurants or café in Kolkata would serve a much better biriyani, with satisfactorily larger pieces of mutton and potato. Price – They are charging Rs. 850 for 1 kg + delivery + GST – and the result is not even satisfactory for two persons. So, considering several factors, such as, quantity of rice, taste of biriyani, size and quality of mutton pieces, size of potato pieces, etc., I must say that this is absolutely overpriced. They promised flat Rs. 200 discount on first order, which was given through a voucher code. At the same time, they also promised free firni with every order, through another code, which was not allowed in our case as their system accepted only one code. Finally I checked the google reviews, and found that many persons have complained about high price, low quantity, missing chicken pieces, etc. In reply, BBK simply blow their same old trumpet of “fresh biriyani for every individual order”. Apart from that they do not have much to offer.
Concluding remarks: Think twice before spending your money on so called “authentic” and “fresh biriyani for every individual...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting Biryani By Kilo in Jamshedpur, and I must say, it was an amazing experience. They have now started offering dine-in options for their customers, which is fantastic. The ambiance of the place was exceptional, with beautiful lights, a live counter where you can witness the biryani being cooked, and a very courteous staff.
I had the opportunity to try both their vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, and here's a brief review of my experience:
Starters: Non-veg: I highly recommend the mutton galouti kebab and the fish tikka. They were absolutely delicious and a must-try. The chicken seekh kebab was also very tasty, but the mutton kebab stole the show with its creamy and flavorful taste.
Veg: The veg seekh kebab was quite good, especially when paired with the mint chutney they provided. However, I felt that the paneer items were not as impressive as the other options available.
Main course: Non-veg: I opted for their Hyderabadi dum biryani, and it was a delightful experience. The spices used in the biryani made a significant difference in its taste. It had the right amount of spiciness to create a zing in your mouth without overpowering your taste buds. The chicken was juicy, tender, and generously portioned, making it worth every penny. I highly recommend trying this biryani from Biryani By Kilo.
Veg: They also offer a vegetarian biryani, but as I'm not very accustomed to veg biryanis, I couldn't discern any major differences. However, I found it to be quite good overall.
Dessert: The showstopper for me was the phirni. They serve it in a matka (earthen pot) with almonds sprinkled on top. It had a perfect consistency, not overly sweet, and the flavors of milk, sugar, and rice were beautifully balanced. Once again, this is a must-try dessert at Biryani By Kilo.
That was my take on Biryani By Kilo. I would love to hear about your experience as well....
Read moreRecently I visited Biryani By kilo! It's amazing that they've started their dine in for Jamshedpur customers also. Talking about the ambience it was bang on! There were lights, a live counter where you can see your biryani being cooked and very polite staff.
I tried their veg as well as non veg options! So here's a brief review - Starters - Non veg : Do try mutton gaulloti kebab & fish tikka! They're the must 😍. However the chicken seekh kebab was also delicious, but I loved the mutton one most! It was creamy and so flavorful that you must actually try! Veg - Veg seekh kebab was actually good! You can try this with the mint chutney they provide. Paneer items I didn't feel were a bang on, as their other items were.
Main course - Non veg - I tried their hyderabadi dum biryani! The spices which they used was making the whole difference in taste of their biryani. It was spicy for you to feel that zing in your mouth but not that much which won't stop you from another bite! Chicken was juicy and tender! Big pieces were used and it's worth the price. A must try from biryani by kilo
Veg - They also had Veg Biryani, but since I'm not accustomed to veg biryani a lot, couldn't make out a major difference. For me, yes it's good.
Dessert - phirni was the showstopper! They cook and serve it in a matka, with almonds on top. It was thick, not extra sweet. Appropriately balanced the flavor with milk, sugar and rice. So yes, again a must try from BBK!
This was my take on Biryani By kilo, let me know yours. Till then,...
