Barley & Grapes Cafe - Old Madras Rd. — Restaurant in Karnataka

Barley & Grapes Cafe is my personal favourite when it comes to a wholesome dine-in experience. Located on the service lane of the Old Madras Road highway ( near Hoskote Toll Booth), this is a treat for the residents staying beyond Whitefield and close to the Bangalore border.

The food here is just perfectly subtle. Flavours are bold but not overpowering. My personal suggestion is to try INIESTA’S DREAM or XAVI FOR PRESIDENT. They are newly named from their conventional Chicken or Veg Catalan. Chicken/Veg gravy with onions and capsicum, served with herbed rice proves to be the perfect main course. One could also try their SKEWERS. Their BRUSCHETTA PLATTER is definitely worth trying. They have started serving TOIT and GEIST BEERS which is a plus but their highlight in beverages are the BEER COCKTAILS.

Got a home delivery done from Barley & Grapes Cafe. I was pretty disappointed. Nothing in the order that came was mention worthy. There was hummus with pita bread, fish and chips and veg Alfredo pasta. Hummus was very average and the portion was so small it wasn't enough for a small child even! The pita bread was hard and stale. Looking at it hummus seemed like it was more of a chutney than the main dip! Coming to fish and chips, the fish fillet wasn't fresh. There was a weird smell coming from it. The fries also were stale and hard and over done ! It looked as if it had soaked oil and was kept for a long time. I can't imagine how they can get fries wrong ! Even a small deli gives you fresh fries ! Not done ! The pasta was a little better than the other two items if I have to say something nice ! Although there was hardly any seasoning in it it was ok.
