Hotel Vrindavan, near Circuit House in Kadri, has long been one of my go-to spots for quick, tasty vegetarian fast food. Known for Mangalore's classic dishes, it’s often packed with loyal locals and travelers alike. But my recent experience left me with mixed feelings.
The other night, I ordered Mushroom Gheerost, a unique Mangalorean dish I was craving. When I got home, I was surprised to find that they had given me Mushroom Manchurian instead. It was already past 10 PM, and I decided to settle with the meal, which, thankfully, was still quite tasty and did the job.
The following morning, I went back to Vrindavan to inform them about the mix-up. However, the cook denied that they had mistakenly given me Mushroom Manchurian instead of Gheerost. I was a bit disappointed by his reluctance to acknowledge the error, but the cashier, who seemed more understanding, refunded me the price difference—Rs. 15 (with Gheerost costing Rs. 170 and Manchurian Rs. 155). I appreciated this gesture, though the cook's denial left a bit of a sour note.
Overall, the food at Vrindavan is enjoyable, but I hope they work on addressing such issues more openly. I’d recommend them for their flavors, but do double-check your order before leaving to avoid a...
Read moreHotel Vrindavan Fast Food is a drive thru plus dine in restaurant located opposite the Circuit House. I have visited for breakfast, post lunch and for an evening snack. One thing which I can tell you is that it is always crowded. Many people find it convenient to sit in the comfort of their own car and enjoy the snacks or beverages. Right from dosas to idlis to podis to chaats, this place has it all. To quench your thirst, order Juice, Milkshake, Tea, Coffee, Soft Drink or a Fresh Lime Soda.
Parking can be a challenge especially if you visit on a weekend. You might have to wait a little extra for your order, but by the time it reaches you, the food will be piping hot!
The photos I am posting were taken during our visit on a Sunday evening.
We ordered Banana Podis (Two Types), Pav Bhaji and Filter Coffee. The Podis came along with a bowl of coconut chutney. Pav Bhaji was very flavourful and the dollop of butter made it taste creamier. What can I say about the filter coffee? It was piping hot and sweet thanks to the extra spoonfuls of sugar added.
So whenever you are driving towards Kadri Park, KPT or Nanthoor, drop in to Hotel Vrindavan and enjoy a quick bite with your...
Read moreStaff should be trained to think, and be rewarded for it. Unfortunately I was left with “I’m sorry not able to drink tea ! Which was laden bitter from some kind chemical”? Now it’s 5 stars for unhygienic, poor quality food and I won’t be back until time heals. 6 month ban from me. Other times I have eaten food from here it was sub par and terrible customer service. Food was below average, what we expected.
The cook and server were not wearing masks. Standing and breathing over the food counter with open containers. I will not be back because of this carelessness. The manager at cash was not interested in complaint, hope the owners can see this, it can destroy their business!
This place is just getting way to expensive for what you get 22 rupees for burnt tamarind seeds tea. A stone throw from Kadri police station. I wonder how they are managing or are they providing good service to police personnel in police station. Health department should check on...
