Review: Mahesh Prasad Pure Veg Restaurant – Mysuru
Location: Nazarbad Main Road, Mysore, Karnataka Cuisine: South Indian Pure Vegetarian
Overview
During my recent visit to Mysuru, I had the pleasure of dining at Mahesh Prasad Pure Veg Restaurant, a popular spot known for its authentic South Indian vegetarian food. The experience was fantastic, especially the veg thali, which exceeded my expectations in both taste and variety.
Ambience & Service
The restaurant has a simple and clean setting, with a focus on fast service and traditional flavors rather than flashy decor.
It’s often bustling, especially during lunch hours, but table turnover is quick, and the staff handles the crowd efficiently.
Service was prompt and polite, with servers quickly explaining the thali items and offering refills with a smile.
Food Experience – Veg Thali
The veg thali was the highlight of my visit. It was flavorful, wholesome, and very satisfying.
What I loved:
A generous spread of items like sambar, rasam, palya (vegetable curry), kootu, chapati, curd, and rice.
Authentic South Indian spices—balanced, not overly oily or spicy.
The sambar and rasam were standout dishes—aromatic and rich in taste.
Fresh curd and pickle complemented the meal perfectly.
The dessert (usually payasam or sweet) added a lovely finishing touch.
Everything tasted fresh and homemade, with good portion sizes and great variety.
Cleanliness & Pricing
The restaurant was clean and well-kept, especially for such a high-traffic place.
Very affordable prices for the quantity and quality of food. The thali offers great value for money.

Read moreHave visited this place twice and both the times for lunch.
Ambience - It is a very simple restaurant which is light on the pocket so nothing great about the ambience. It is quiet a big place which can accommodate more than 50 people. The main thing worth mentioning is that it is a very clean and hygenic place. They have washrooms as well which is well maintained unlike other small Darshinis.
Service - Whatever you order it will be served in 5 min even when the place is full. The Staff is attentive but not very polite.
Food - There was only rice dishes during lunch, breakfast items like Dosas are not available in the lunch time. In our 1st visit we had a South-Indian meal and Bibelebath, in the 2nd visit we had South-Indian meal, Pulao and Basundi. South-Indian Meal - Consists of 1 chapathi, pickle, dry vegetable fry, vegetable curry, a bowl of rice, rasam, sambar, curds, buttermilk, sweet and a papad. Everything was good but the sagu was average. It is filling for 1 person. Bisibelebath - I am a Bisibelebath fan but I did not like it even a bit here. It had too much unwanted masala and was spicy. Pulao - It with a cup of Raitha. Again this also had too much masala which was unnecessary and it was oily. It had some deep fried bread crumbs along with vegetables. Basundi - The best dish I have had here. The quantity was also good.
If you are here for lunch then please just have a meal, Bisibelebath and Palao is a big NO also don't miss Basundi for dessert. I'm definitely visiting this place for breakfast to try their famous...
