Having a great brand reputation and good history of serving good food, definitely raises the bar for standards and just serving good food just doesn't cut it. It was truly a disappointing experience. It took a while for the person to take my order, that I was about to get up and storm off. Couple of basic items were missing. They were the basic stuff and not some exotic food that these ppl had to wait from France or Italy. One of it was, a request for a simple "masala papad" which after a while they say it's not there. And the evening services were just beginning, so How can someone not replenish it after taking the previous inventory in the noon???!!! Also I had to hunt them individually to refill my water. And even the bill took like forever, that I got up and went to the cashier myself.
This isn't the 1980s/90s where the Indian middle class were impoverished and feel greatly obliged for being just fed by the restaurant for a fee irrespective of how they treated. We're better than this now. The quality of service should be of decent standard. Nor is this some random hole in the wall in some godforsaken region that we overlook service quality for a decent food. In an age where we can order at our homes for any food from any restaurant with few taps on apps, ppl come to restaurants for the overall humane experience. You can't just getaway with mediocre service hiding behind the fake smiles. If quality service is missing, specially for an establishment like Nalpak with a glorious history, why even...
Read moreOne of the worst one . I knew this hotel was hopeless but still tried might be thinking it would have changed after a long time as that day we had no other hotels to visit . At peak 1pm it was looking empty on a Tuesday had a bad vibe but still took a chance which proved costly. After having roti we ordered Gadbad . We saw the combination of icecream piled one above the other with pista above chocolate and all the tutti fruit was flowing out. While having and sharing one by one we had a feeling of some thing wrong and as in the top itself there were jellies too when we tried to take it out it came out one huge bunch of long jelly circled and rounded together which we didnt feel like having . Then below we saw fruits which we felt was already had become more ripe and from the smell itself we could analyze. We called the lady manager the one with saree and said this is a old stock and a huge jelly was there not even cut in to pieces and these fruits smell are overripe. That lady said cooly that it was only yesterdays and to add to on top of it she says, if it was informed in the second bite itself she could have replaced it . She is not even ashamed to say these things and was not ready to remove that from the bill. One of the worst experience and it made my mind to completely remove this hotel name even for trying to check whether it...
Read moreI had high hopes for this place and it it was a total let down. We went there at around 10AM on Friday and these are the low points.
not fully opened for seating limited menu in the morning no pictures. food was Luke warm chutney and Sambars were swimming in water. I tried drinking it and it tasted good. the plastic plate were not the greatest to eat the butter masala on. the steel bowls and spoons came directly out of wash without being dried. Since the restaurant didn’t look that occupied I could not figure what was happening with water dipping spoons.
Did express my displeasure to the waiter who I believe informed the owner . I don’t think they care enough to explain.
High points : coffee was good and hot . the taste of the Luke warm food was good. I think it would have tasted better if it was hot. But …
Hygiene ? : Gave sugar free in a tablet and I could why it is a bad idea. As one from our group tapped and got 3 /4 of them and was trying to shove extra ones...
