United Telugu Kitchens has been doing rounds in Social Media for their authentic representation of Andhra Food, yet I wasn't willing to brave the drive to Kanakapura road to indulge. However they had opened an outlet much closer to home at Kadugodi and now I am totally ran out of reasons not to visit them, yet it took some time to convince my family to visit and used my parents' anniversary as a good reason to celebrate here. Being a vegetarian that day we thought we would opt for their vegetarian thali to sample all the authentic goodness of Andhra cuisine that they had to offer, but were quickly disappointed that it was not in this outlet menu yet. We thought we would order the rice and Andhra pappu separately, unfortunately the only dal they had was either in a kichidi style mudda pappu, or a dal fry, which was not Andhra style. Sadly we opted for a couple of vegetarian starters and a chicken starter for dad, and a couple of drink options that included a lassi, an orange goli soda and a spicy buttermilk, very interestingly named Hangover Majiga. All the drinks options were very good, especially the buttermilk, the orange goli soda reminded me of Torino, a famous carbonated drink down south in Madurai, that is the only living replacement for Gold Spot, if you are from that era. We were warned about the Rayalaseema Natu Bombs in a pandumirchi toss to be too spicy even for a south Indian palate, yet we braved and ordered the same, and found it to be way too spicy, but I enjoyed and ended up eating the whole portion up. The Konaseema Paneer in a toss of karivepaku, or curry leaf paste, was deliciously crispy yet soft mini cubes of paneer that was very delectable and the spice on this was a balanced one.
The Kaju paneer biryani was a good version, again the paneer was supersoft, and overall the biryani was not very spicy, a much calmer version that we all enjoyed. I specifically asked for the Guthi Vankaya Kaju Pulao that was medium spicy and the little brinjal masala atop the rice was excellent and I overindulged and finished off whole as it was not a favourite for mom, and wifey liked it only mildly. I would definitely recommend this if you are a fan of the Guthi Vankaya koora in the Andhra cuisine.
I was not willing to let go of my pappu addiction and ordered the only pappu combo they had, which was a Mudda Pappu, a khichdi style dal rice with a pachi pulusu, a watery and tangy tamarind sauce with fresh onions and chili. Mildly disappointed not to see toor dal in this pappu, it still was a great version if you bring kids along, the pachi pulusu was tangy and delicious, I had to ask for some pickles to make this combo more interesting.
Dad loved his Mamsam or Mutton Pulao in a chinta chiguru or tamarind leaf sauce and the Nallakaram Kodi, the crispy chicken starter.
Too full, we refused to budge into the non-Andhra desserts, and asked for the bill and left after noticing the overtly attentive service that was a bit intrusive into this intimate family lunch on a weekday. But I strongly recommend them to buck up their game and bring in some Andhra style pappu, at least a couple of options soon, else they are going to lose out to the tough Andhra Meals market that you find around not just Whilefield, but acros Bangalore. Also want to highlight that I did feel a bit heavy after a couple of hours and a mild tummy issue for mom and I hope a brand like UTK does not opt the usage of soda and ensure that ingredients are fresh. I am still giving them the benefit of doubt as we would want to visit again on a non-vegetarian day and try out their interesting biryani...

As a self-proclaimed food enthusiast, I am always on the lookout for restaurants that serve authentic and delicious cuisine. Recently, I had the pleasure of dining at United Telugu Kitchen, a restaurant that specializes in Telugu cuisine. In this review, I will take you through my culinary journey and share my thoughts on the food, service, and overall experience.
Ambience
As I walked into the restaurant, I was immediately struck by the warm and inviting ambiance. The decor was simple yet elegant, with traditional Telugu elements such as wooden carvings and a welcoming cow . The lighting was dim and cozy, creating a perfect atmosphere for a relaxed dinner. The tables were spaced comfortably apart, ensuring that diners had ample space to enjoy their meal without feeling cramped.
Service
The service at United Telugu Kitchen was top-notch.the general manager who introduced himself as sunil annavarapu, was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. He took the time to explain the different dishes and made recommendations based on our preferences. Throughout the meal, sunil checked in regularly to ensure that we had everything we needed. The service was prompt, efficient, and courteous, making our dining experience all the more enjoyable.
Food
Now, onto the most important part of the review – the food! United Telugu Kitchen offers a wide range of traditional Telugu dishes, including vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. We started our meal with the mudda pappu avakaya annam, a flavorful and comforting dish made with rice, toor dal, and pickle. The dish was rich and tasty, with a perfect balance of ghee..
For our main course, we ordered the Biryani, a classic Telugu dish made with aromatic spices, basmati rice, and marinated meat or vegetables. We opted for the chicken biryani, which was cooked to perfection. The rice was fluffy and fragrant, while the chicken was tender and juicy. The biryani was served with a side of Raita, a cool and creamy yogurt-based sauce that helped to balance the spiciness of the dish..
For dessert, we ordered the gulab jamoon with rabdi. It was the perfect ending to our meal.
Verdict
In conclusion, our dining experience at United Telugu Kitchen was exceptional. The food was delicious and authentic, the service was top-notch, and the ambiance was warm and inviting. If you are a fan of Telugu cuisine or just looking to try something new, I highly recommend United Telugu Kitchen. Be sure to try the biryani.

Come weekend and we're seated at UTK - (United Telugu Kitchen)for lunch. Be sure to call for a reservation. The place was full. We had booked our table so didn't need to wait. The restaurant exudes modern elegance. The seating is comfortable, and the restaurant is spacious enough to accommodate both large groups and intimate dinners. Coming to the main attraction - Andhra food! The food is absolutely delicious, we ordered a variety of veg and non veg dishes and each one had a distinct authentic taste. I'm sharing my views on a few over here but trust me you need to go and try it yourself! The Mutton Ghee Roast, is an absolute must-try. This was mouth-watering, aromatic delicacy with a perfect balance of heat and flavor. Gongura paneer -A unique and flavorful dish that is a must-try for vegetarians and paneer lovers alike. The Gongura Paneer has soft, succulent paneer cubes cooked in a tangy and spicy gongura leaf gravy. The combination of the creamy paneer and the bold, tangy gongura sauce creates a delightful contrast of flavors that is both refreshing and satisfying. It was the first time I had this dish and I enjoyed it for it's unique taste. Konnaseema paneer - soft, succulent paneer cubes cooked in a spicy and aromatic gravy inspired by the flavors of the Konaseema region in Andhra Pradesh. The rich blend of spices, coconut, and fresh herbs creates a delightful and memorable culinary experience Ghee Sambhar Rice -A comforting and flavorful dish that is a must-try for those who appreciate the simple yet profound flavors of South Indian cuisine. Goli soda - they have a variety of flavours and among 7 of us we tried all and every one of them was good! For dessert we tried the gulab jamun which was fantastic! We also tried the malai sandwich which was not nice at all, I guess the only dish which disappointed us at UTK otherwise our dining experience was very satisfying and worth the effort taken! The service is quick and the staff is absolutely amazing! Taslima was looking after us on our table and she was absolutely wonderful! People like her makes a patron keep going back. She made sure we got everything as per our requirement. It was a busy afternoon but service was quick and prompt. Now this amazing dining experience would probably imply that it's an expensive restaurant but honestly it's not. The ambiance, the food and just the feel of the place makes it all worthwhile. Go and savour the taste of Telangana with your family or friends. It's...
