🌟 My Honest Review of Biriyani Stories – Chottanikkara
I recently visited Biriyani Stories, located at AMJ Arcade in Chottanikkara, right after a temple visit, expecting a good biryani experience based on the name and online presence. Here’s my detailed review based on my personal experience:
🏠 Ambience & Space
One of the first things I noticed was that the dining area is very small—not ideal for a comfortable dine-in meal, especially if you're visiting with family or a group. What was a bit disappointing is that they advertise it as a dine-in restaurant, but in reality, it’s mostly suited for takeaway and delivery. If you're expecting a full-fledged restaurant space to sit and eat, you'll likely be underwhelmed.
🍽️ Food Experience
🍗 Chicken Roast Biryani – A Letdown
I tried the Chicken Roast Biryani, and unfortunately, it did not meet expectations. The chicken lacked flavor, and overall the dish was a flop in terms of taste. The masala didn't blend well with the rice, and the meat was dry and slightly overcooked.
🐂 Beef Biryani – A Total Winner
In contrast, the Beef Biryani was excellent. It was flavorful, well-balanced, and the beef pieces were soft, juicy, and cooked perfectly. The rice had the right aroma and spice level, and I could tell it was freshly prepared. If you are visiting, I would definitely recommend going for the Beef Biryani over the chicken options.
👨🍳 Service & Staff Behavior
The staff were polite and professional, and that made a big difference. Despite the small space, they handled orders with a smile and gave attention to cleanliness and packaging. The food preparation time was decent, and everything was served hot and freshly made, which left me satisfied with their service.
💰 Pricing & Value
The pricing is reasonable compared to the quantity and quality of food—especially the beef biryani which felt worth the money. Biryani combos also come with chutney, pickle, and papad, which adds value to the meal.
🚫 Areas to Improve
The Chicken Roast Biryani needs serious improvement in taste and texture.
The dining space is not as expected, so the management should either improve seating or clarify that it’s mainly a takeaway outlet.
✅ Final Verdict
If you’re in or around Chottanikkara and craving biryani, Biriyani Stories can be a good option for takeaway or quick lunch, especially if you go for their Beef Biryani. They do have their shortcomings, but the overall experience in terms of food preparation, staff behavior, and pricing felt fair.
⭐ My Rating: 3.5 / 5
Would I visit again? Yes—for beef biryani takeaway, definitely. Would I recommend dine-in? Only if you’re okay with a very small...

I’ve been trying food from Biriyani Stories, Chottanikkara for quite a while now. Out of everything I’ve tasted, my absolute favorites are the Kizhi Chicken Biriyani and the Masala Shawaya.
🔥 Kizhi Chicken Biriyani It comes with 2 quail eggs, 2–4 medium chicken pieces, 1 papadam, pickle, salad, and thenga chammanthi. The portion is just right for one person. The biriyani is prepared in Malabar/Kozhikode style—less masala, not oily, and with nicely flavored chicken. Overall, it’s light, aromatic, and really satisfying 🍽️.
🌶️ Masala Shawaya This is another favorite of mine! It has a tangy, spicy, and slightly sweet taste that goes really well with any kind of bread . The chicken is always juicy, tender, and slightly charred—that perfect smoky touch that makes you want to order it again.
✅ What I Like
Flavorful Malabar-style biriyani.
Juicy & well-balanced shawaya.
Filling portions at a fair price 💰.
⚠️ What Could Be Better
Sometimes the food quality isn’t 100% consistent.
The dining space is very small (10–20 people max), so it works better as a takeaway place 🥡.
🌟 Final Verdict Even with the small space and occasional inconsistency, Biriyani Stories is still one of the best food spots in Chottanikkara. If you love flavorful biriyanis and juicy shawaya, this place is definitely...
Read moreI had a disappointing experience today at Biriyani Stories, Chottanikkara. Earlier, I had tried their Malabar Dum Biryani which was really tasty and of good quality. But today, I ordered Chicken Biryani and was very let down. It was not dum biryani, and they have now started using very low-quality biryani rice, which completely ruined the taste.
The quality and standard have clearly gone down compared to my earlier visits. Really hope they improve and bring back the authentic taste and quality they were...
