Sri Ashok Bhavan: A Disappointing Departure from Tradition

Sri Ashok Bhavan in Palakkad has been a cherished vegetarian dining destination for generations in my family. The restaurant's reputation for delicious food and excellent service has been a cornerstone of its legacy. Unfortunately, my recent visit was a stark departure from these high standards.

A particularly unpleasant encounter with a server in the family room marred our dining experience. The simple request for sambar to accompany our vada was met with an arrogant refusal, a blatant disregard for customer preferences. Traditionally, Ashok Bhavan has been renowned for its flexibility in accommodating diverse tastes. While it's unconventional to pair kuruma with vada or chutney with porotta, the restaurant has historically been open to even such bizzare requests. Never ever try Aloo paratha here. Better to try only South Indian food items. Worst Aloo paratha ever had in my life.

Items like poori, Onion Uthappam, Masala Roast are good. Dosa items are good.

If you ask for Aloo paratha, they only give Aloo paratha, you have to tell them to bring something to have along with it.

Service is the worst. I have asked for 4 Garlic Butter naan, one kadai paneer & one paneer butter masala parcel. What they have parcels was 1 garlic naan with the one kadai paneer & one paneer butter masala.

I got shocked after opening the parcel after reaching home. When I complained they initially said why don't you check your parcel before leaving. And they were telling I wouldn't have ordered properly or some miscommunication would have happened.

Who will order one kadai paneer & one paneer butter masala for one garlic butter naan? Simple commonsense..

After a long discussion they were ready to deliver chappathi and porotta. No compensation given, I got the chappathi and porotta and i have paid for it.
