I was lucky to find this place on my first day of vacation in Varkala! The manager, Kim, is so kind, helpful and very attentive to customers!! The place is very cute, creative and clean. There's a wide library there. Sometimes there's alive music.|Jairam cafe is famous for its thali and cooking classes. And they have open kitchen! And very clean one! |As I'm Russian, I used to have soups for lunch, and chicken soup in Jairam is really good. And paratha! Mmm, its amazing!!! Also breakfast is nice, and cheaper than in other cafes. |There are only a few rooms, but they are pretty good. Kim wants to make more rooms next year. Good luck for you and hope to visit Varkala and Jairam cafe again!|As for activities, I recommend visit Munnar for sure!!!! Amazing views!!!! It's very easy to get there - by bus from Cochi. And also if you have tighten budget, and don't have opportunity to stay in houseboat, you can go by ferry from Kollam. There's ferry at 10.30. And it goes to Alleppy, by 6pm. But as it's a long trip, you better go out on Amma ashram stop at 1.30 pm and visit Ashram. It's a nice experience. I think it's no need to hug Amma, nothing much in it. You better assist her by putting into her hands sweets. Do have lunch there! Food is cheap and nice , delicious cappuccino is only 60 rupees big cup.|Have a...
Read moreI stayed at the Jairam for three weeks from December 30th until January 20th 2017 and of all the places I have stayed in India this one has to be the best for relaxed friendliness and fun.||My room was amazing, basic with attached bathroom, it had a hammock outside on the balcony where I could watch the sun set each evening through the swaying palms in the courtyard. In the evening the entire place is illuminated by a huge blue chandelier while out front the sound of waves beat out a rhythmic pulse.||Kim, the owner, has a huge heart and nothing is too much trouble. Free drinking water is available on the balcony plus he knows so many people to help you out with trips, doctors, massages, travel plans etc.||If you are looking for a place to expand your creative abilities this is also the place to come. With an Art Studio,Yoga Hall, Free Library, Cooking Classes, and much more I was allowed to add to this wonderful place with a few Home made Board Games and a drift wood mobile or two. ||||There is such a family feel to this place that by the time I left I had booked a return trip! I have a Blog called The Adventures Of Kerriann with loads of stories and photos if anyone wants to know more about the Jairam Cafe, but for anyone looking for a relaxed, laid back place to stay on a budget THIS is the...
Read moreDue to really bad wifi in most places in India and being busy since returning back to London this review is for our visits on the 16-17/12/16. Edited and submitted 9/2. Hopefully still relevant.||We three British guys wanted a cheapest brunch along the cliff. We left Seawin ABBA and strolled down the road to the beach. We met an English guy at the end who recommended this place, although we had passed it before. We four then walked north up the cliff path to find Jeraim with four tables by the beach and a broad alleyway of tables, the place was quite busy. It was too hot to sit on the cliff so we took a table in the covered restaurant area by the busy kitchen.....too hot in the end so we found a table in the alley with the sea breeze. ||The menu had basic at a cheap price, with more exotic food in the hundreds. Stick to the dosai we thought, some quite unusual. Mushroom, betroot, cheap breads and lime soda. All good.||Tea was very cheap, 10, almost street prices.||The dosai arrived in good time and...
