Staying at this “resort” was one of the most horrific and harrowing experiences of my life. So much so that Booking.com have launched an investigation into the safety and legitimacy of this hotel/business and the people that run it. I have traveled all over the world, staying in hostels as cheap as $1 a night, and this was worse than all of them put together.||Our horrific stay culminated in us being trapped in our “cottage” while, 15ft from our door, 20ft flames were roaring through an area of approx. 400sq ft. Our door would not unlock and all the windows were barred. There was no escape. We were trapped, watching the fire in terror, with no way of escaping. It was beyond traumatizing. No staff came to help us. We eventually managed to break the lock open and ran through smoke and falling ash. No staff asked if we were okay later, even when they saw me sobbing (even though we’d had numerous interactions with them previously). We were then asked if we wanted to stay in that room as it was “still standing,” despite there being no power or water (it was like this constantly before though), but we declined and were put in a basic room at the front of the hotel, which was actually much nicer/cleaner and less than half the price, however they still tried to charge us the “luxury cottage” rate for this room.||The Manager, Ranjev (?sp) was as sweet as he was able to be given the circumstances of his employment/bosses, but the owners are unpleasant liars who harassed us, lied to us (and Booking.com) and tried to take money from us that was not owed. Furthermore, they promised Booking.com they would give us a large discount on the principal sum, which they did not do. One owner, Javeed, admitted that they have not changed any of the information anywhere online since they took the property over, 8 months ago, thus admitting to false advertising.||The short review is that the “luxury” cottage we book for 7000INR a night was far from luxury (see the few photos Google allowed me to upload – I have dozens more). A handful of issues are listed below. There were a lot more:|-Air conditioning does not work|-Bath is filthy and broken |-Sink is broken |-Shower/bath tap won’t turn off |-No toilet paper |-No hangers |-No kettle / cups (advertised with this, told none available)|-No hair dryer (advertised with this, told none available)|-Dirty bathroom |-Food and dirt on the surfaces of the bedroom|-Broken and dirty tiles in bathroom |-Mould in bathroom |-Ants all over the bathroom and bedroom. Crawling on us in bed.|-There is no King or Queen bed - only two singles pushed together in all the 3 rooms we were in.|-Multiple stains on the sheets |-Cigarette burns in the blankets and sheets|-Holes and stains in/on the towels |-Daily morning bonfires, built and “tended” to by 2 playing teenage boys, 20ft from our cottage and 5ft from the neighboring cottage.||Manager and owner refused to help us with any of the above, though we eventually got toilet paper and hangers. No items in our room had been fixed. We ask again, and again and even emailed, but got no response or resolution.||Repeatedly harassed by staff for payment, even though our room still had no A/C and only occasionally had water, and was not remotely as described. We were told by Javeed that only if we pay will he change our room. Not once was an apology offered. We gave up and paid some money, too exhausted by this point, and advised to do so by Booking.com.||We were moved to a new room and all of the above applied, as well as:|-There is now no water |-The bath is broken, scratched and dirty, sinking when you stand in it|-The tiles are dirty and broken |-The cupboard is broken |-There are holes in the wall, looking to the outside, with cobwebs in |-Filthy, rusted fridge|-Hole through bathroom door||The next morning we are awoken by a man banging on our door screaming. He then runs away and we see the fire. The rest you know.||Please do yourself a favour and do not go near this property or...

2 Days 2 Nights Stay Review: Be Careful While Deciding & Finalizing on Ashokam Resort Varkala for Holiday Stay.

This holiday stay/ hotel skilfully sold us natural ambience heavily compromising on Quality of Stay & Guest Experience.

Duration of Stay: 30th & 31st October 2024

Price Charged for Single Room without Balcony View: approx ₹6,000/-

We reached the holiday stay around 11:30 pm late 30th Night. First Surprise rather shock was challenging & unwelcoming Hotel 🛏️ Location.

Horrible Night reaching Experience with Car Driving:

No street lights, incorrect Google map route would put you in some utterly narrow dark street while you get trapped with family 🤯 trying to navigate back your car 🚗 on road. Horrible.

The location & pathway to reach Ashokam Resort Varkala is so narrow, so dark at night & so Close to the sea ⛵ Cliff that if someone Drives bit faster fully at night with a bigger SUV, high chances it may Cross the Cliff & may horribly sink deep in Sea.

A lot of points show Ashokam Resort Varkala’s Unwelcoming Approach towards Tourist Guests.

We never received any call from the reception desk asking us about if we are reaching Ashokam Resort Varkala, in spite of us getting late.

We have been staying in other Holiday Stays across multiple locations in Southern India all of them Do call to confirm guest arrival & Wellness.

But Ashokam Resort Varkala never checked upon or called us asking if we were fine & able to reach the location.

What we experienced here was like "Ashokam Resort Varkala: We got our money from you tourist Guest; Now Bugger off do not bother us". This was the approach we experienced from Ashokam Resort Varkala... Very unwelcoming 😤

Natural ambience being sold without sufficient Value Addition from Ashokam Resort Varkala.

Being situated at the sea ⛵ Cliff, draws Tourist Guests attention more towards the Location, Ambience & this gives ample opportunity to Ashokam Resort Varkala to compromise on their quality of Hospitality & service to Tourist Guests.

For instance as compared to the number of Rooms there is not no proportionate availability of parking 🅿️ slots.

There is no easy availability of ready cooked 🍚 food in case one feels Hungry 😋 in odd hours. You will have to be at the mercy of Ashokam Resort Varkala ‘s owned restaurant within its premises where they big time loot people charging heafty amount of money 💰 even for simple Breakfast… Dinner 🍽️ meals.

The toilet 🚽 faucet of Room # 007 was not spraying adequate water 🌊 jet to clean 🫧 ass post morning toilet. No Mirror above the Wash Basin.

They did not facilitate Hot water supply even for regular bath 🛁 activities.

· FINAL VERDICT: ASHOKAM RESORTS VERKALA, IF PROVIDES SERVICES MENTIONED AS ABOVE, THEN THEY ARE GOOD FOR MAXIMUM INR ₹1,000/- PER ONE DAY & NIGHT.

However, if someone plans to drive 🚗 to this place late night, I would strongly recommend please cancel your plan. You may straightforward Sink within Sea together with your Car 🚗 if you make some mistakes in Driving within Narrow Dark Road 🛣️ to this place late night.

So...

Worst resort experience in my life.😟 Poor management Not well manatained Very pricey for their bad services Bad food

I will never recommend this place to anyone. This place was suggested by a travel agency as we asked for a budget friendly stay. Since, it was peak season we unfortunately landed on this place though there were many resorts available near North Cliff which were much cost friendly, having more facilities.

We booked the standard room for 3 days. But, we ended up leaving in 2 days. On the first day, we have to face the drainage block which we neglected because it may happen sometimes. Then they upgraded our room to the 1st floor with a good balcony view. The floors in both the rooms were sticky from not cleaning the sea salt, which I hated. We chose to neglect them as we don't want to spoil our holiday mood. We ordered chicken alpham for dinner from their menu which was okay. But, not satisfied with taste or freshness. Their complimentary food was better compared to that. We kept the used plates and food waste in front of our room and the reception let us know that they will clear it immediately. They took a day to remove it and the waste was all gone which we assume was taken by a stray cat or dog.

The swimming pool was not clean and treated properly. There were green algae and dead bugs in them, as well as days old floating dirt from previous uses.

The second night at 2am we had an unexpected guest, a rat 🐀 in our bathroom which we believe ended up through the AC duct which was not sealed properly. We waited half an hour and called the reception and no one answered. Finally, my husband went downstairs to seek others and the kind watchman came to help but by that time rat escaped. There was rat excretion and urine all over the place and I had to dispose a few of our belongings since they were contaminated.

All these reasons and resort atmosphere spoiled our vacation mood and we vacated the next morning.

What if we didn't see the rat and we used the toothbrushes in the bathroom? Who will be responsible if we get infected with rat virus? We asked for a refund which they denied and the travel agency is trying to negotiate. They should know the basic motto of this business. The customer should be satisfied with their services.

If they wanted to survive in this business hire a good manager, chef and maintain the...

Ashokam Resort in Varkala has a few things going for it, but unfortunately, our experience left much to be desired. On the positive side, the rooms were spacious, and the balcony offered a mesmerizing view of the Arabian Sea, which was truly a highlight. The breakfast served was tasty and a good way to start the day. However, there were significant drawbacks. The resort’s location is far from the main market, and the narrow road leading to it can be inconvenient. The biggest disappointment was the uncooperative attitude of the staff. As tourists, we were unfamiliar with the area and requested some milk for our kids. Not only did the receptionist refuse to provide it from the kitchen, but they also denied our request to arrange for someone to fetch it from a nearby shop. When we eventually managed to get milk from Varkala market, the staff even refused to boil it, citing unavailability. Additionally, the rooms lacked basic amenities like toiletries, which we expected in a property of this nature. Upon requesting a refund, we were redirected to the booking platform, which added to the frustration. Overall, while the views were stunning, the lack of essential services, poor staff cooperation, and basic room amenities really affected our stay.

Subject: The tale of One Omelette Don't be surprised with the Subjectine above. Booking was done from 23rd to 25th March. This review is being written from property itself. Now starting with negatives, as that is important. 1. Don't go with their complimentary breakfast scheme. It's almost like a sham. As per the team and their Manager Mr. Akhil A , there is no unlimited breakfast, and you will get one Omelette per person. So basically once you pay 6000 Rs for a room per day, you are being told that Omelette is chargeable. So breakfast is a sham if one pays that amount 2. Food was bad. Quality was not upto the mark. In breakfast they served idli, Sambhar which was again bad, watermelon, poori and Bhaji. 3. While Having meal the Waiter told me that spoons are being used in room service and one has to wait for a basic Spoon 4. Though they have a Menu, but that also is a sham. The elaborated menu was shared , but when asked for Dinner more than 50% of items were missing 5. You have to pay the entire amount upfront. So there is nothing left at checkout. This was strange as bigger or smaller hotels don't have such policies. Good Things 1. View 2. Room Size
