Read moreWas a regular at Madurai for a very long time since 2019.
Very good podi dosa, spicy crispy potato, malai kofta, kashmiri kulcha, nice pulaos and fried rice, and almost everything we have tried have been good.
Food was generally very good, so was their service.
Since Covid we have hardly eaten here, but the two times we did, it's not so much about the food that let us down. It was the overall ambience, the general upkeep and way the food is brought out from the kitchen.
One sunday for breakfast, random people were uninvitedly sitting at already occupied tables because the place was packed, this shouldn't be the case in a restaurant like this. This is not a shack or wedding ceremony were anybody can just sit anywhere (already occupied table)
Another day we ordered our food and we saw other orders coming out, dosas stacked on top of one another, as in one plate of dosa on top of another with the bottom of the steel plate on top of another dosa, that's absolutely unhygienic. God knows where the plates are kept. We just walked out without eating.
And when any rice dishes or curries are ordered, the server brings it to the table and it is served with the server's thumb finger nail sticking into the rice/curry. I shudder to think where those fingers have been.
This is absolutely gross and this has been the case not once, but several times.
I cannot accept these things no matter how well the food has been prepared or how much ever tasty it is or even if the food is free.
Given the number of cases of food poisoning and people falling sick due to unhygienic practices these days, this shouldn't be tolerated at any cost.
The management should seriously...
Read moreYou can find my review earlier years ago when the service and the food was great but unfortunately I had a bitter experience today. The food remains to be good but the service was terrible. I’d visited with my family today and the person taking order had such arrogance. After taking my order it was told that the other will arrive a lil later. Even after that he brought all the food together. I requested him to please hold the order as they haven’t arrived yet; the explanation he had was that the food will get cold. Well, it’s exactly the reason why I’d requested to hold the order so that the food doesn’t get cold. The sudden response from this arrogant person “you can’t tell us that.” The food was ‘almost’ thrown on the table just because I’d requested to hold the food. From the arrogance he had, I understood he’s somebody equal to a goon hence he won’t understand if we complain about his behaviour. For this reason only, it was a very unpleasant evening at Madurai and I don’t think I want to visit this place anymore solely for the reason that such arrogant person. For people who want to avoid this personality, he was taking orders from the right side of the restaurant...
