Merakki — Restaurant in Kerala

I visited the restaurant yesterday all the way from alappuzha after seeing numerous food vloggers, to be honest I was totally disappointed.As it was noon I had to wait for more than half an hour to get a seat for me and my family of 3. They don't have proper management as the people who were familiar to the place was going in and getting a seat and we were waiting in the front office as the receptionist asked us to wait there.Omg i was irritated to the core and then found my way in and got a seat after some wait.Further to my dismay the food was average, we ordered a biriyani for Rs160, normal meals Rs50 and sea food talli Rs240. The biriyani was not that bad,the meal was decent but the sea food talli was not that great.. very average ,doesn't really stand-up to the hype and the quantity is less. The most disappointed factor was the service.. some staffs were really arrogant,we asked them for curry but din serve Us as one arrogant guy was busy serving their regular customers , though we called him twice. Then a kind uncle served us the curry, when we were almost done with the lunch.If you people really want to stay in this industry then you should provide good service.And took time to write this review because I was really disappointed with the service and should say that the vloggers were paid or given free food otherwise such reviews for an average restaurant won't happen overnight. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE EVER!!!! Went there to have a wonderful evening with my mum this weekend. So we got there at 7 ordered a portion of butter chicken and a few porotas to go with it but came up with some naadan curry that the waiter refused to agree was his mistake and justified it was butter chicken. Later to correct it and replace the order. Then came the worst part where the bland so called butter chicken came with its raw and uncooked meat. It was bloody and uncooked. The manager justified that it's because they cooked it in a hurry. I didn't find that justification good enough because we pay to go to these places where they give the worst services and raw uncooked food and expect us to eat it without complaining. I've lived here for quite some time and by far this is the worst experience I've had from a hotel in Calicut city. After all this drama and a ruined weekend I'd never go back in there.Check your food once your order comes in from this hotel. You can never know what you'll get and they'll have so many reasons to justify. I'm outraged to go to this place with my mother and have ruined our wonderful evening....

We had visited Merakki on a Tuesday night (23/02/2021) at around 8:30. There was very minimal crowd. The ambience was pretty good and so was the food. We had ordered the Eri Pori chicken, Koonthal Roast and Pepper chicken with Kerala Parotta. The Koonthal(Squid) Roast was exceptional and was very reasonably priced. The Kerala Parotta was one of the best I had ever tried. The Eri Pori chicken and Pepper chicken weren't bad either but definitely worth the money as the quantity was adequate. We had also ordered a green apple mojito which was worthless as it was a tall glass filled with Ice and very little mojito to drink. And it was not correctly priced for the quantity that they were offering. Although the food and ambience was great I feel the service could have been better. I had to remind them to clean our table and our server wasn't even sure about what was there in the menu. All in all if you want to have some nadan style preparations with excellent Kerala Parotta with great ambience I'd say Merakki is worth a try. So I'm rating my experience with 4 stars. All the best...
