Hainan (Chinese Restaurant) — Restaurant in Kolkata

Authentic and yummy Chinese food.

We chanced upon this gem of a restaurant one sunny weekday afternoon. It was absolutely empty! Fearing the worst, we ventured in anyway as we were very hungry and it was getting late.

To our surprise, everything we ordered turned out to be delicious and authentic in taste. The veggies were cut finely, the fried rice had a riot of colour in the form of cut veggies and corn, the taste was subtly Chinese. We later found that the owners are Chinese.

It's a pity we don't live in Kolkata, otherwise we'd have visited it again! The prices are very reasonable. Such quality food in an equivalent restaurant in Mumbai would charge three to four times as much!

Servicing good, good ambiance, food quality can be much better. Recipes need improvement along with garnishing. Vegetables should be more finely chopped, chillies were added abruptly as an afterthought, chicken was diced in such small cubes that it got lost in the gravy. The place is gzzood with great ambiance. The food is great. Taste is good with a flavour of Indian touch so that the taste is Indian friendly although being a Chinese restaurant.
