Forget the food, the restaurant personnel are perhaps the most rude and pity people I have dealt with. I had added a request via Zomato that please add gravy to chaap, last time it was quite less. Within 1 minute of the order someone calls me from the restaurant and firstly lectures me on how I am wrong on the item name, it is a Hyderabadi chicken and not chaap. After a rant on semantic, the guy proceeds to tell me that the gravy amount was standardized and I might feel it is less but it is correct. Please note nor has he seen any picture of my last order, but he just assumes it was correct and I am wrong. I said okay, but that is not it when I said all I wanted is a bit of gravy as last time I had any, I got another culinary lecture on how it is correct, and again this guy has no idea how the last order looks.
I called the restaurant again, and someone told me the restaurant needs to call for 'clarification', which is funny because for a clarification a customer needs to speak, and not get lectured on their request. All this for a little gravy I requested. Let it be the local biryani shops, or some premium fine dining restaurant, never have I got a lecture for a little gravy, the staff are truly super pity. The funniest part was the order this time did have sufficient gravy.
Edit: I can see the restaurant has replied, so just editing to state, once the confusion of the Hyderabad chicken was sorted, I had told that last time I had barely received any gravy. To which the person start lecturing me without any context of my past order. Here is a thing you are a cloud kitchen with 4 star reviews average and with two branches, and not a conglomerate like Mcdonalds that you can confidently say that ever order has same amount gravy. The plastic thali that is delivered is not completely full. An arbitrary amount of of gravy is given, you use humans to pack food not automated robots. It truly is baffling the amount of overconfidence the staff have. A restaurant that doesn't listen to their customers, and thinks they know it all is bound to decline, so try being a bit humble, and accept the mistake your staff did.
Also on a side note, the food I got was stale and heavily lack flavor, and one of the chicken Hyderabadi was just a bone, which I could feel after the first conversion with the staff was a pure revenge move, given I was not allowed to cancel order after ordering within 2 minutes. Wasn't really surprised such a unprofessional move from such a pity restaurant, threw most of it away as it was my final order from the...
Read moreSiddhartha is one of my close friend - because of our common interest in watch collection. But even till 1 month back I was not aware of the fact that he is running one of the restaurant chain in Kolkata. It was mid of last month, when I was shifting, I have asked one favor from him that if he could able to send me the food to New Town. Just before shifting I came to know that he is also a Foody and running a restaurant chain in Kolkata called Imarat- Calcutta Biryani Co. Within 5 seconds he text me that I shouldn't be worry about that. He will arrange and send it to my new address. It was already 9 PM and around Durga Puja time.
I have ordered - For 2 Lazeez Irani Tandoori Awadhi Dum Gosht Biryani -E-Khaas Mutton Mughal Gharara Badam Pista Phirni Pudina Lacchadar Paratha
It was actually more than enough for 2 persons. We have shared above among 3 of my family members including me.
Firstly the delivery was superfast. It reached within 30-35 mins. It was pleasant surprise. Food was hot.
Taste wise, each and every item was superb If I talk about Biryani, as I have spent 15 years in Delhi, I have tasted mostly all the famous mughlai gharana dish from old restaurants in Delhi and UP. So I would say I can compare a little bit of this cuisine. Imarat can give them a tough fight any day - that's my assessment.
I liked every bite of the biryani because of less spices, but overall texture and aroma of the briyani was so balanced. Same goes for the Kabab dish and the gravy dish as well.
I know that this is long review to read, but I would recommend every one to visit and taste their dishes because generally what we eat as Kolkata Biryani in other restaurants are NOT at all balanced.
I definitely would like to visit their restaurant in person sometime.
Lastly, my wish to Sid and his entire team of Imarat for more success in...
Read moreIf I could give them 6 stars, I would. We got their awadhi dum gosht biryani e khaas, lazeez murgh Irani tandoori, humayunpuri ajwaini fish tikka biryani and gosht bhuna-all home delivered by a well known food delivery app. I wanted to write a review for them while the gastronomic ecstacy still prevailed in our brains..it was a phenomenal experience! Coming from food aficionados like us, this is an opinion we rarely give out to just anyone. Imarat deserves every bit of praise I can muster. Salute to the chefs who were instrumental in bringing such delightful dishes to our table. Now to the food. Many restaurants make gosht bhuna, but Imarat KNOWS how to make a gosht bhuna. I dare you to miss their gosht bhuna. Now I agree Kolkata has a decent number of restaurants who can make excellent Kolkata biryani. But after trying out Imarat's Awadhi dum gosht and the ajwaini fish tikka biryanis, I can promise you, I'm not eating anywhere else. This Biryani chef knows what he's doing! And mind you, their biryani is flavoured with zafran, not the typical kewra you'd find in most places. And the murgh Irani tandoori....delicate creamy flavour permeating tender chicken pieces and leaving an after taste of butter...need I say more? Do try them! All I want is the management to take note and please pass on our thanks to the chefs on behalf of us for a superb and unparalleled experience! â¤ī¸ P.S.: I loved their packaging, using biodegradable utensils as far as possible and adding a sanitizer sachet keeping our...
