Shimla Biryani — Restaurant in Kolkata

Few days back I was at shimla biryani which is located near Ruby.. They have decorated beautifully to celebrate their 20th Anniversary. Ambience was nice and if you really want to enjoy some quality biryani this place has to be in your list. Shimla Biryani is one of the best restaurants in Kolkata when it comes to Mughal Foods. We have tried different dishes like - Murg afghani kabab Peshwari paneer tikka Shimla Awadhi Biryani Mutton special keema Biryani Chicken biryani Butter Chicken Mutton handi lazeez Veg jhal frazie Keema naam Navratan pulao Conzy crispy Chicken American corn salt and pepper Schezwan fried rice Firni Fresh Lime soda In starters both the Murg Afghani kabab and peshwari paneer tikka were delicious. Normally I don't try veg dishes where north indian food is specaility but here I need to mention paneer tikka as It was well cooked and pretty good taste wise. In the main course apart from biryani I had tried schezwan fried rice which was absolutely amazing and hugely recommended. Being a biryani lover I was looking forward to try their biryani. Personally I Loved both Awadhi biryani and Mutton Biriyani. In Mutton Biriyani , Mutton piece was large and well cooked and the aroma of Mutton Biriyani was top class. Hugely recommendations for Mutton Biriyani . I have tried Awadhi biryani in other places as well but this one seems to be a bit different from rest. If you want to explore different biryani dishes then you must go for it. You can have chicken or Mutton with awadhi biryani whatever you choose. Lastly I have tried their firni which was amazing and most important part is price of the firni is little less than other restaurants which provide north indian cuisine . But in taste it was pretty perfect . And after having biryani to complete the lunch one should always go for firni rather than other desserts. So every dish we tried was upto the mark. The hotel is conveniently located on a main road, only a few kms from the main tourist areas of Kolkata. It was overall clean, modern and comfortable. It wasn't very crowded when we were there, even though it was between Christmas and New Year, generally considered peak tourist season. I booked online and got a good rate as well.||We were there for 4 nights and the room we were in was reasonably spacious, with a sit out area next to a tall window. There was enough space in the room for all our luggage and an extra bed in the night. The bathroom was also clean and well maintained with a separate shower area.||Being a pure vegetarian hotel, it worked well for us vegetarians and we liked the good spread for breakfast. We also had lunch/dinner at the restaurant and the options were good, though a bit pricey. The food was consistently tasty - we tried Indian, Chinese, Italian; even the curd rice was very well prepared. ||The service was also good, from check-in to check-out. On one of the days we were to leave very early on a day trip and they were nice enough to provide us packed breakfast at 4:30am. The room was properly cleaned and arranged every day while we were out. Dear biryani lovers, SHIMLA BIRYANI is one of the best restaurants in Kolkata, when it comes to mughal foods. Serving different types of Biryani, like Zafrani biryani, Mutton kacchi Biryani, Handi Biryani & many more along with mouth watering kebabs.

The ambience in first floor is decorated beautifully with lights and chandelier along with white tables & chairs. The ground floor is decorated with different colouring lights.They have a seating capacity of 100+. The first floor offers beautiful view of Kolkata so if you visit here for the first time then opt for the first floor.

Mutton kacchi biryani is a little more spiced up as compared to normal kolkata style biryani. The mutton pieces were soft & juicy & what I liked even more is that the aloo was perfectly cooked. All the above mentioned dishes are equally good.
