The Biryani Canteen — Restaurant in Kolkata

Review in November 2023: Waited 10 to 15 minutes after arriving at 2.20pm and hungry. Watched suppliers chit chatting with each other ignoring my table although they saw me. Tried to invite attention but they were busy with their personal stuff. Even when I walked out, the guy who noticed it was unbothered and maybe relieved of one less table to serve. Taking 10 or 20 minutes to prepare order is understandable. But here in a low crowded place they did not bother about even taking an order.

Update: Visited again after 2 months or so... This time attitude has changed. Prompt attention at my table within seconds of my arrival. Staff now available at the entrance to attend guests soon (maybe due to the review). The service was good. I took a capuccino (Well made with quantity but very costly at 150) and ordered parcel. Hyderabadi fish biriyani was very well made with excellent fish pieces and well made rice. Mahi tikka masala was also soft and with good but a bit oily gravy. The combo is reasonably priced at 370. The Bhatti da murgh is essentially chicken tandoor (full at 470) but with softer meat. In parcel they provided firni dessert and lacha paratha (I think its lacha paratha) along with salads and chutney. The food was good but price points to be worked out so that they will get better volume of business with the good ambience they provide. It seemed mostly empty both afternoons I went there. Now, we the people of kolkata loves biryani but if I tell you this place serves amazing biryani in affordable rates you'll be surprised right!!! Yes you can enjoy your lunch or dinner in this inside out beautiful place in affordable price...

Murg Potlam Biryani was so good, it's basically a keema biryani served in a very unique way by covering it with egg, I totally loved it..

Afgani Chicken Bharta, my gosh this one was my favorite, juicy chicken pieces cooked in creamy gravy will give you a heavenly experience, this one was the best chicken bharta I have ever come across.. I must try one.

Murg Rozila Kebab, is a kebab prepared with Green chutney spread over marinated chicken breast then rolled. Extremely delicious and worthy trying.

Dahi ka sholay was so good, it's was bread stuffed with hung curd which got herbs and spices then fried. Extremely flavorful and different, Must try.

All together it was an amazing experience, do visit this place and thanks me later.
