I had seen the pictures of this restaurant on social media mostly the ones forwarded during it's opening. Fortunately my sister recently shifted to Kolhapur from Pune so I knew there was a trip coming soon..so high on my trip to Kolhapur was this place.
We went to the place on Saturday night but it was over crowded with a minimum wait time of more than an hour so we decided to skip it and return the next day. On Sunday, we reached around 8 in evening and were absolutely surprised to see there were people already waiting...now this got my curiosity up by notches. After a wait of 30 mins we got the table and within first 20 mins inreI realized why there was so much of waiting...it was due to the pathetic service. Being a restauranteur myself, I know the value and impact of a good or bad service irrespective of food taste.
So here's my review of Royal Kolhapur
Pros: Food taste is extremely good and rating is completely for the same. The mutton and chicken both were absolutely well cooked and perfectly spiced. Expect for a fact they don't serve Bhakri, which was a big turn off! Ambience is bright and a well made exterior and interior. Food price is satisfactory.
Cons: Extremely slow service, we had to literally wait for 20 mins after getting the table for someone to come for our order. No Bhakri!!! No one likes to enjoy a Kolhapuri mutton with roti or for that matter even Chapatti. Get this on your menu soon! Staff not completely informed about the options on menu. We tried understanding the empty thaali concept and the Captain miserably failed to explain it. Despite I explaining the correct version, he ended up confusing us. Parking is a big issue, since the place is in small bylanes. Waiting space is negligible considering the amount of people waiting.
P.S - You soon gonna have trouble with locals around who are not very happy about the establishment being around. Due to the lack of waiting spaces, patrons tend to spread out to the public benches and the locals are not very happy about it. Yesterday they blatantly told people not to sit there and patrons were murmuring about the inconveniences. Get a valet for weekends to take care of oarkipa...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Royal Kolhapur Restaurant, and I must say, it was an incredible experience. From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a charming ambience that set the perfect tone for an enjoyable meal.
The highlight of this restaurant was undoubtedly the exceptional taste of their food. Every dish I tried was bursting with authentic flavors and spices that transported me to the vibrant streets of North India. From the rich and creamy paneer curry to the flavorful dal tadka with hot roti with ghee, each bite was a tantalizing delight for my taste buds. The restaurant's commitment to using fresh and high-quality ingredients was evident in every dish, leaving me thoroughly impressed.
What made this restaurant even more remarkable was its affordability. Despite offering such delicious and high-quality food, the prices were incredibly reasonable, making it accessible to a wide range of diners. It was refreshing to find a place where one can enjoy a satisfying meal without breaking the bank.
The ambience of the restaurant was another highlight. The décor was tastefully done, creating an inviting and cozy atmosphere. The seating arrangements were comfortable, and the staff members were attentive and friendly, ensuring a pleasant dining experience from start to finish.
In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend Royal Kolhapur to all food enthusiasts. The combination of exceptional taste, affordability, and delightful ambience makes it a standout choice. Whether you're a vegetarian or simply looking to explore the flavors of North Indian cuisine, this restaurant promises an unforgettable...
Read moreIt's a brand new good Thali (Fixed menu) Veg Non-veg restaurant in Shivaji Peth area, Kolhapur, Maharashtra, India. It serves good food at very reasonable price. It's online menu shows 'a-la carte' servings available. But the restaurant menu has only fixed menu. The ambiance is ok. The capacity is some 50 guests. With mirror walls it's made to look bigger. The location however is not easily accessible. The hotel is in a narrow bye-lane. Parking is not available. Waiting area is on open lane in front. Sometime back this new hotel was inaugurated by HH prince Shahu Maharaj of Kolhapur, they advertised. The restaurant should be highly rated when Royal family's name associated with it. But it fails to fit the bill.
There are many better restaurants in Kolhapur that serve similar or better food than RK at similar or slightly more price, with better locations and accessibility. It may not attract repeat guests barring loyal customers. But visitors to Kolhapur should eat here at least once and form their own opinions. They will not be disappointed so far as food...
