If you know Missal Pav, u know that its best served hot ... literally hot n hot in terms of spice level. This place takes care of both. Service is good, fast n friendly. If u r expecting a good ambience, don't even try visiting. Traditionally, missal is a rustic food n places serving missal should match up as well. This place is a small road side joint with an asbestos roof. Hence if u r a snob for air conditioned high profile hotels only, don't even try.

One speciality worth mentioning ... They take care of people with mild taste buds as well. The missal comes at moderate spice level, and they give a separate small bowl of red chilli concentarte curry (more of oil than curry). काही पदार्थांच्या मागे विशेषणं पक्की बसली आहेत. बाकरवडी म्हणलं की चितळे, कंदी पेढे म्हणलं की सातारी तसंच मिसळ म्हणलं की कोल्हापुरी. मिसळ पुणेरी वगैरे करून, त्याची चव बिघडवायचे बरेच प्रयत्न झाले पण कोल्हापुरी चव जगात भारी राहिली (पक्का पुणेकर असून हे मान्य करावं लागतंय!). अर्थात कोल्हापुरी म्हणजे चव आहे, फक्त तिखट नाही पण झणझणीत (म्हणजे फक्त लासल तिखट नाही तर योग्य मसाल्यांची पण चव हवी) नसेल तर कोल्हापुरी म्हणायला अजूनही जीभ कचरते. त्यात जर outlet चं नावच 'कोल्हापुरी' असेल तर अपेक्षा अजून वाढतात. पण हिंजवडी फेज 3 ची कोल्हापुरी मिसळ या अपेक्षा पूर्ण करते!

मिसळ म्हणजे मटकी (बरोबर बाकी कडधान्य पण चालतात.) हवीच. ती सॅलड सारखी फक्त उकडलेली नको तर रस्यात त्याची चव उतरलेली हवी. इथल्या रस्यात बाकी मसाल्यांबरोबर मटकीची चव व्यवस्थित जाणवते. रस्सा flavourful आहेच पण एकदम जाळ तिखट वगैरे नाही. माझ्यासारख्या खूप जास्त तिखट खाणाऱयांसाठी मग वाटीत वेगळा कट येतो. हा प्रकार तर्री समजून घेतलात तर थेट कानातून धुरच! यात तेल, तिखट, लसूण, कांदा लसूण मसाला असा सगळा ऐवज असतो. पूर्ण मिसळ बरोबर जास्तीत जास्त 3-4 चमचे जाईल!

अजून एक आवडलेली गोष्ट म्हणजे मालक स्वतः प्रत्येक टेबलवर जाऊन फीडबॅक घेत होते. शक्य तिथे स्वतःहून suggesstions देत होते. मी review टाकणारे सांगितल्यावर आवर्जून kitchen मधली स्वछता आणि genuine मसाले कसे वापरले जातात ते ही दाखवलं!

एकंदरीत चांगली मिसळ हवी असेल तर हा नक्कीच चांगला option आहे. फॅमिली बरोबर पण जायला हरकत नाही. सोबत लहान मुलं असतील तर त्यांना कमी तिखट आणि स्वतःला तिखट ते पण चवीत sacrifise न करता हा कोल्हापुरी मिसळचा...

Conviniently located and Enroute while traveling from Mumbai to Mulshi via Hinjewadi just before you hit Marunji road, Kolhapuri Misal outlet is hard to miss. The outlet has clean and spacious surroundings with neatly Laid tables but do not expect luxurious surroundings here. the servers are attentive and you get the main dish which is - misalpav, slightly spicy to taste.
