My recent visit to Madrasi Raja left me with mixed feelings. While the food was delicious, the overall experience was marred by disappointing service.
During our dinner, we ordered the sponge dosa and Mysore dosa. While the sponge dosa was good, the Mysore dosa turned out to be excessively oily, although it still had a tasty flavor.
Next, I inquired about the preparation of their podi idli, specifically asking if it was made with ghee or oil. As I don't like ghee at all and was aware that podi idli is usually prepared with ghee, I wanted to ensure it was made in oil. The person taking our order assured me that the podi idli was prepared with oil and that ghee could be poured on top upon request. Confident in this information, I ordered a podi idli without ghee.
To my dismay, when the podi idli was served by another staff member, I noticed a clear smell and presence of ghee. I immediately sought clarification from the person serving, and he apologized, explaining that my order had been replaced with someone else's by mistake.
The staff member who initially took our order came rushing over, confirming that the idli in front of us had no ghee. However, I couldn't ignore the undeniable scent of ghee.
As the situation developed, a third staff member intervened with an impolite demeanor, questioning why he would have served me ghee, as it meant an additional cost. The confusion between the staff members was evident, with one stating there was ghee in the idli, and me pointing out the same. I understand that mistakes can happen, especially on a busy Sunday evening. However, rather than accepting the mistake gracefully, the staff member began arguing, displaying very poor behavior.
While I appreciate that busy hours can be challenging, I expected better professionalism and accountability from the staff.
The lack of sincere acknowledgement for the mix-up and the subsequent argumentative response left a bitter taste in my mouth, overshadowing the good food they had to offer.
Despite the ghee mix-up and my inability to consume the podi idli, we paid the bill in full.
I regretfully have to lower my previous rating for this restaurant due to this unfortunate incident. As a customer, I value courteous service as much as the quality of the food, and I hope Madrasi Raja takes this feedback constructively to improve their service standards in the future. Until then, I won't be considering another visit...
Read moreChutney de rahe ho ki prasad 😂. We are paying Rs. 100+ for dosa and getting chutney which is size of 1 tablespoon, seriously salute to the people who order here.
This is the only option near Blue Ridge and it's IT people area, restaurant is taking full advantage of it.
I travelled and lived in Mumbai, Bangalore and Pune, had south Indian food in 50+ restaurants, but never seen such cheap thing to serve very small amount of chutney.
There are other good options which are justified for price, quantity and taste like Hotel Vijay and Tamilnadu Restaurant, they serve medium thickness chutney which is enough.
Other loot example are not keeping RO water (by giving common reasons like not functional and all) and only keep paid water bottle.
If you are ready to pay good amount and want to screw up ur experience, then only order or don't order.
Edit (Adding below part after owner's response) : It's not thing of affordable or not, I earn good monthly. If we pay good amount then we expect good quality, taste and quantity, food is overpriced here. I'm not connected with anyone, review is based on visit to the restaurant and view...
Read moreVisited on Saturday evening for dinner with family. This new outlet is located in a new shopping complex which is between Blue Ridge - Tower A and B. Use google maps to reach here. The commercial complex is under construction and parking is beside Tower B for cars.
The outlet is small but clean and hygienic. The seating area is not much with just 3 tables for people and few options to stand outside alongside a high table.
Coming to food, which was delicious, we had ordered:
Steamed Idli : Three big Idlis served with sambar and three delicious chutneys. These three chutney was served with each dish and all of them equally sumptuous with unique flavour.
Sponge Dosa : Perfect Sponge Dosa
Masala Dosa : Traditional Masala Dosa, could be more crispy.
Rava Dosa : THis was superb and way better than masala dosa.
Filter Coffee : One of the best filter coffee i have tasted in Pune, served in glass and bowl. Sugar was on lesser side
Service is fast and food is prepared just beside you so served hot.
The only constraint here is space, hopefully, they will expand over the time with more seating...
