Padma Guest House — Restaurant in Maharashtra

Once a most popular non veg restaurant in the 70s in the last century almost for 3 decades, now seems to have completely lost its charm, glory and goodwill. It was a talk of the town as conveyed by my parents and the best option for thousands of people for coming from surrounding villages, visiting the market, watching Marathi movies in nearby 5 theaters and enjoying authentic mutton thali.

I went here along with friends after 20 years expecting good and quality food. Very sad to say that it died almost. If the owner is reading this review then make radical changes in all departments like customer service, staff attitude, and more importantly the food quality.

Surprisingly rates are sky high as compared to other restaurants in Kolhapur. Is there anyone listening?

If a genuine connoisseur of nonveg food in Kolhapur is traveling to Ichalkaranji for Mutton Thali, then it's alarming for almost all so-called non-veg restaurants in Kolhapur, so let it be Parakh, Rajdhani, Opal or any other restaurants who are surviving only because tourist from outside are eating your food.

Had multiple options in chicken dry and chicken curry.

Had kolhapur's famous tambada rassa and pandara rassa as well.

Walking distance from famous kolhapur mahalaxmi temple.

Had a great opportunity to see Marathi actors having their dinner at that place.

Had no parking space but food quality and quality was definitely worth

Padma Guest House is an old famous place to savour Kolhapuri Non-veg, especially mutton. The Place is on first floor which you access through array of old photos of the owner(s), and of Chatrapati Shahu Maharaj and of old Kolhapur. The photos are continued in dining hall. The decor is simple, tables large and place clean. Service is polite and prompt. You can have varieties of Kolhapuri mutton like special mutton, muttton lonche (pickle), fry mutton, green mutton, mutton kharda, Kheema and mutton rice. They are available as ala carte or as in thalis. Super Special Mutton Thali gives samples of four of these. Thalis are sufficiently large. And of course unlimited supply of Tambda and Pandhra Rassa.
