Pappe the Tashan is a vibrant Punjabi-themed restaurant in Kolhapur that successfully blends traditional dhaba vibes with a modern twist. The ambiance is one of its standout features, with both AC and non-AC sections available to suit your preference. The interiors are thoughtfully designed, offering a colorful dhaba feel. One side is adorned with a truck facade, while the other boasts Chinese writing, complemented by a tree, creating a quirky and unique atmosphere. The use of old-style bulbs for lighting adds a nostalgic aesthetic charm.
The menu offers a variety of dishes, including some unique options that are hard to find elsewhere in Kolhapur. I ordered Chole Bhature accompanied by Masala Chaas. The food was decent overall. The chole were creamy with a slightly sweet taste, providing a distinct flavor. However, the bhature, though served hot, were quite oily, which could use some improvement. The Masala Chaas was a highlight of the meal—refreshing, palate-cleansing, and perfect for cooling the stomach.
The staff were polite and friendly, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. However, the location poses a challenge, as the restaurant is situated at a busy chowk with heavy traffic, and parking is a significant issue.
Overall, Pappe the Tashan is worth visiting for its unique ambiance and refreshing drinks. With a few tweaks to the food quality and better parking arrangements, it could become a top choice for Punjabi cuisine...
Read moreThis restaurant is brightly lit-up with a dhaba like feel to it located in the prime locality of Tarabai Park, its unmissable. To make the look more authentic, the management have placed a driver's cabin of a truck at the entrance. The place was pretty crowded when we reached here for dinner.
We were seated promptly but attended to after a slight delay. The quality of food was very good and taste was near authentic and I have reason to say so. We had ordered a Dum Aloo Kashmiri and surprise surprise, it was served made in the authentic manner in a red gravy and spicy taste. In many restaurants in Mumbai, this dish is made using loads of dry fruits and a cashew nut gravy. Hence it was surprise to find this method of preparation. Phirni was nice was not set in a sakura [the earthen vessel in which it is set & served]. The Chaass was served in a huge steel glass, the quantity was enough for 2 people.
MUST HAVE: Dum Aloo Kashmiri Phirni Corn Pattice

Read moreFood served here is NOT a authentic north indian food. We had chicken tandoori in the starters. It was ok. It was more fried than tandoori. For the main course, captain of the restaurant suggested us lal mans with spicy greavy. As we wanted to have spicy food we ordered the same along with roti. Roti's were rubbery and the worst was lal mans greavy. It was sweet and which we didn't like it. We told captain about this. He checked in the kitchen and said by mistake white sauce was more used than required quantity. He took our dish back and said I will replace with other dish. So we ordered chicken tawa chicken greavy. Even this dish was sweet with lot of capsicums. Some how we finished our food and asked the captain to get the bill. We were surprised to see that we were charged for the lal mans dish which we had returned. We asked captain about this but his answer was I can't do anything about this as cashier has prepared the bill. As if we are not aware that billing is done by cashier. We paid the whole amount deciding never ever to visit this place. Overall...
