Since this is in Malappuram, it could be called a good hotel. As a matter of fact, there's really a lack of hotels meeting the benchmark of standards, in this place. The hotel is one of the oldest and probably prominent in Malappuram, being located inside the Downhill Bus stand. Having said that and linking to what I stated earlier, I would rate it still almost striving to reach the average quality. The hotel though has been renovated and extended, has many flaws. There is no decent lighting. The lights are way too dim. Also the last time I visited, the complete restaurant went dark for almost 3 minutes, due to consistent power failures. The hygiene is not at all appealing. You could easily spot houseflies around. As for the food, it's just okay if not below average. The place has a lot of scope for improvement. The other reviews given below could be misleading, since their opinion might be only from the Malappuram point of view. If these are taken care of, the hotel can reach even more bigger heights. It still has the potential to do so, owing to it's location and lack of competition from other hotels in the area.
Edit 1: The Hotel Team has responded to the review as could be seen below. I appreciate it. As a reply, I would want to say that Delicia is far above other hotels in the area. The whole point is however, about the bigger picture. Unfortunately from my personal experience, I couldn't vouch for the quality of the hotel much. Yes, I will follow up on phone with more details if my review could help. I'm sure you guys can do better. Regards.
EDIT 2: (THE MOST RELEVANT AND MOST RECENT REVIEW)
Right after I posted this review, I got an immediate reply from the Owner which you guys can see in the comments section and furthermore surprisingly the Hotel Management contacted me via Facebook inviting me for a free meal. I must say this really changed my perspective toward their administration. This was a sweet gesture from their side. They took the criticism in the right way and worked on that to change the customer opinion. This speaks a lot about the positivity of the management group.
I had a totally different experience this time. I felt the improvement phenomenonaly. This was not just to impress me, as in there were many primitive changes I observed in this visit. A lot of things had exponentially gone uphill. Hygiene was one thing. The bathrooms and wash area was maintained perfect. The food this time was top notch. The infrastructure as I noted this time had many elements of improvement as from my previous visit.
Right now, I would strongly recommend anyone to visit the hotel if you're at Malappuram. They have come a far way. And they sure would reach even further heights hopefully, owing to the hotels super-responsive and responsible Management Team. Hats off to you guys for responding with this energetic positive attitude to...
ย ย ย Read moreThis is the first time I am reviewing a hotel from my beloved home land Kerala. I am so happy that I started with @hoteldelicia, malappuram. . . My mother tasted fruit salad or some other dessert of similar lines from malappuram for her office conference. That was back in 97-98 I remember. She was so impressed with the dish and went on to find out it's origin. It was none other than the legacy of malappuram and Malabar hotel Delicia. . . As it was closer to malappuram collectorate and AEO office, treasury etc she started bringing biriyani from Delicia on salary days. That is how I first relished their delicacies. Biriyanis are so yummy and must give a ๐๐๐๐๐+ . . Later when I moved to my residential school Delicia became the caterer for farewells and get togethers. Any food they serve will be of the authentic taste. The taste of mutton stew, chicken 65 etc are unforgettable. . . Recently just after my marriage , again I visited there for lunch. I haven't started the food page at that time and so missed out on the photographs. . . But I remember two stand out dishes from that visit, dragon chicken and a dessert made with different scoops of ice creams and nuts. I can't recollect the names but can recollect the taste. Both deserve a ๐๐๐๐๐ . . Any one who visits the kottakunnu don't miss out this place.
