1st star for Crab Lollypop and 2nd for Kombadi Vade Restaurant has mastery in these 2 dishes and their con is they have mastery only in these 2 dishes. This review is not made in any anger, rather I asked them about the issues I had with the food and they were like that's how it is made. So I'll tell you the problem with dishes we ordered. Crab Lollypop: Beautifully made dish. I ordered it only because of the fact that they were going to make something with crab meat and not going to serve me crab with carapace from which I'll be extracting meat. So as crabs don't have any bones, crab meat which tasted like Prawn actually was wrapped around crab pincers which is innovative and nice. It was covered with corn flour as it was going to be deep fried and it tasted best. We repeated it cause we all liked it. (It is served with schezuan sauce but do not try that as it'll completely change the original taste) A 5/5 dish. Kombadi Vade: nicely made bread and I can literally say that it's one of the very best bread i have tried. Problem is you don't have a single dish here to try it with. So best is you eat it without anything. Chicken Boneless Masala: disappointment! First, there was no masala and it was all greavy, and even that was fine till the time we figured out that it was literally tasteless. Like no taste at all. Prawns Bhujne: Worst Prawn dish. I am a spicy eater but that doesn't mean that I'll chew on garam masala. They only serve five prawns pieces of new one rupee coin size. So all you have is very tangy and spicy onion masala. Green Chicken: Worst ever dish this restaurant might be having. Like we chew on saunf exactly the same way I was chewing on garam masalas like Cardamon, Cinnamon, Black pepper, huge bay leaves, and what not. Again there wasn't boneless option available and they served small boney pieces covered with just ground coconut with coriander. That coconut-coriander mixture was not cooked and it was again a tasteless thing. I interacted with the staff and conveyed them about the experience with the food. I have even tried kheema here and it was also high on whole spices. Imagine that. Owner interacted with kitchen staff and told me thats how it is made. I just told them you are ordering a dish and just chewing on whole spices the way you chew on saunf, how one is supposed to like that. They really have a nice interior and hygiene, and with good food it can go famous. Compared to the prices we pay the quantity of food is very very less (This is also mentioned ny others in their review but I still tried). But quantity can be overlooked with tasty food and they failed at that. Anyways, after trying this restaurant more than once, I would not recommend anyone to go there for lunch or dinner. Just, go there for that crab lollypop. No washrooms and no wheelchair...
Read moreThe ambience of this restaurant is absolutely perfect—so unique that stepping inside feels like being transported straight to Konkan. From the decor to the overall vibe, it creates a truly immersive experience.
The staff is polite and welcoming, and what really stood out was the hospitality of their head cook, a talented lady who personally came to ask us about our food after we finished our starters. It made us feel special, like VIP guests, and showed how much they value customer feedback.
Now, coming to the food—the crab lollipop was so delicious that I ordered it twice! We also tried the crispy bombil fry, which was quite good.
For the main course, we had two full Surmai thalis with a generous portion of rice and a big-sized Surmai fish. One of the highlights was Feni, a unique type of papad from Konkan, which made me really happy as I love it. The meal also included two fish curries with dried Jawla fish and, of course, Sol Kadhi, which was refreshing and balanced the flavors beautifully.
After finishing our meal, we had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Tushar Nagam, the restaurant owner. He was a genuinely nice person who ensured our experience was top-notch. He even recommended the Ravana Thali, which is a mix of all their delicious dishes—something I’d love to try next time!
One small suggestion for improvement: When guests enter the restaurant, someone should be present at the entrance to greet them. When we arrived, there was no one in sight, and we had to call the staff from the kitchen. I even had to request them to turn on the fan or AC, which was necessary given the rising humidity in March.
Overall, a great experience, and I’d definitely recommend it to seafood lovers looking for an authentic...
