Ashok Veg — Restaurant in Mumbai

Subject: Worst Experience – Cheating & Bad Food Quality.

I had a very bad experience with Ashok Pure Veg (Manchubhai Restaurant) in Malad East. I placed a takeaway order for 6 items, but they handed over only 5. When I reached home and checked the parcel, I immediately called them, but they refused to refund the money for the missing item. This is nothing but cheating and fraud. On top of that, the taste of the food was terrible — no one in my family could even finish their meals. Completely disappointing and unprofessional behavior. I feel cheated and regret ordering from here.

Definitely do not recommend this restaurant.

Update in response to Owner’s Comment: With due respect, your statement is not correct. When I called immediately after checking my parcel, your staff clearly refused to refund the amount. I did not want the delivery since I live far from your restaurant and it would have taken too long. If you were truly willing to resolve the issue, I wouldn’t have written this review. Please don’t mislead other customers — my review reflects exactly what happened.

Date 08/08/2025 Final Review Update I am posting this final update because the owner’s reply is misleading and does not reflect what actually happened.

If you have earned the trust of customers for 30 years, then your staff should have acted accordingly. When I called immediately after reaching home and finding one item missing from my takeaway order, your staff did not agree to refund my money. Instead, he offered me a “voucher” to adjust the amount next time I visit. Why should I visit again after such an experience?

Yes, your staff did offer to deliver the missing item, but I clearly refused because I stay far from your restaurant and it would have taken too long — I mentioned this during the call itself.

Regarding your false claim that I made any offensive comment about someone’s family — I have never used bad words for anyone’s family. What I said was, “Koi baat nahi agar aap refund nahi de rahe ho, aap apne bache ko mithai khila dena mere paison se” — which was only out of frustration when my refund request was denied. Twisting this to mislead other customers is unfair.

It’s our hard-earned money, and when a restaurant takes payment for items not delivered and then refuses a refund, it is nothing short of cheating. Experiences like this break trust, not build it. If you really willing to refund my money please share your email id. I will send my Gpay Scanner you can refund the money on it.

Very bad restaurant, highly unprofessional staff with rude nature, i have order 4 things from that i didnt like chesse pakoda , i requested them to cancel the order but instead of cancelling they added the bill amount to my bill, the person who took the order was very very very rude, we requested them some changes in the order item and in reply he was like "Yeah aisa hi ha or aisa hi milega".. I feel pity for the owner of the hotel that this guy was ruling like its his onwership only. No dicipline of words and no sign of gratitude this hotel staff members have been taught for. humble request to all the people who visit here think thrice ask for explanation abt wat they wil serve coz they wont spare you from not paying the bill even if u dnt have it.

Nice location and ambience. Nice decoration for independence day. Service is good and prompt. But the main point is we went to restaurant for a good tasty meal, it was missing. We ordered Paneer Tikka Masala and it was very plain in taste with raw paneer (white) not even boiled, pieces . I was shocked, on the quarry they were very prompt to say " Hum to aise hi banate hai, hum paneer ko roast nahi karte" . That's the I order paneer tikka masala is I am very sure i won't get raw paneer but they proved me wrong. Now service is so quick that they don't bother to cook gravy as well, water from gravy was oozing out and ....... Overall not happy with my first visit to this place. I am sure not going to repeat. I won't recommend it...
