Gopala's Next is easily on the good Indian Restaurants in Mulund-Bhandup stretch. We had called up and reserved a table at 8.30 on Saturday (expecting the place to be fully occupied) surprisingly there were only a few occupied tables. We ordered for Paneer Pahadi Tikka for started along with Masala Papad followed by Veg cheese pizza, Veg chilli milly, paneer handi, roti and lassi. The starter was generous in portion size and had adequate flavours to itself. The papad was the regular. The pizza had a thick crust withblots of capsicums and onions along with enormous amount of processed cheese. The Veg Chili Milli was very delicious, it was creamy, it had many finely chopped veggies and was neither too spicy nor blunt. The Veg Handi was just fine. The roti was made crispy on our request and it did go well with the food. The sweet lassi had good consistency and tasted good. The service was fast, the staff is attentive. Had ordered a home delivery from gopalas tonight ( bill no 112). Having eaten from here before we had expectations of good food but the dishes today dashed our expectations. Paneer butter masala was tasting only of the overload of cashewnut paste n lacked any other flavour. Veg Angara was bland n tasteless due to poorly cooked tomato gravy based paste, lack of spices, almost no salt n boiled vegetables. Best of all was the single piece - a quarter of an onion n a slice of lime for salad. Not one onion or two but one small piece as salad for a home delivery for 4 people. Sad how the quality of food prepared at gopalas has become so pathetic n no attention is paid to details. N the Markhan mishri their signature dish is never available for home delivery. I think I will order from other nearby veg restaurants but never gopalas in the near future after this...
