I’m a big seafood lover and was really happy to see a nice, ambient restaurant serving great seafood in my locality and that too run by “Aapli Marathi mulgi!” So my wife and I decided to give it a try.
We ordered: 🦐 Prawns Garlic – 7/10, decent taste. 🍤 Prawns Koliwada – 8/10, crispy and flavorful. 🐟 Stuffed Pomfret – unfortunately, this was a huge letdown. Priced around ₹900 but didn’t justify the cost at all. 0/10. 🍛 Surmai Thali – The rassa and jawla were okay, but both the pomfret and surmai seemed deep-fried, not tawa-fried as the waiter claimed. Both were way too oily, I could literally taste more oil than fish.
They served one bhakri and a plate of rice with the thali. When I asked if I could get an extra bhakri instead of rice, the waiter declined.
We also tried Chana Masala, Kulcha, and Tandoori roti as my wife prefer Veg,which was again okyish.
The food takes quite some time to reach the table, and the staff seem new and a bit under-experienced.
Overall, the place has a lovely ambiance and friendly vibes, but the food didn’t live up to my expectations or as shown in the reels.
I’ll just say there’s definitely room for improvement, and hopefully they’ll work on it. Influencers can make reels that bring you a crowd, but it’s the genuine experience of your customers that will make you grow and be truly successful. Serve them your best, and success will...
Read moreThe food was pretty good, apart from a few dishes. I tried a bunch of things out of which the best were: Tisrya masala, Crab Masala, Prawn Koliwada, Prawn Garlic, Solkadhi and Kharwas. Other things were okay-ish but not that good, specifically the fish section. We tried the bangda curry, prawn thecha masala, prawn biryani, prawn rava fry, and Surmai Thali but several things were okay in flavour or sub-par. The Surmai cut was not precise, and lacked flavour. The rava fry prawns were dry and lacked a kick. Despite having ordered Bhakri for our Thali (even before getting a seat), we were told that the bhakris were no longer available and without our agreements we were given chapatis instead. While the bhakris were good, the wait for the food was quite long, and the waiting line for a table was even longer. The restaurant doesn't take reservations and while we reached at 2:20, we weren't seated until 3:00, so you can imagine the crowd here. And having seated, we couldn't enjoy our food well because the kitchen closed mid-meal. We had to rush our orders and didn't get a chance to savour it well. Modaks were tasty and hot, but were missing the gharacha flavour. Still worth trying. My recommendation is if you like crustaceans like crab, prawn, and shellfish, you should come here at least once. Better come early too as once their hour runs they close down and the tables still...
Read moreWe visited Hotel Shree Swad Maharashtracha for the first time and unfortunately, the overall food experience was very disappointing. Mandeli Fry – Burnt in taste and completely bland.
Chicken Thali – The sukka chicken gravy tasted only of onions and masala, with no depth of flavor.
Pandhra Rassa & tambda rassa– Not at all like authentic Kolhapuri pandhra rassa; totally lacking in taste.
Anda Curry – Very disappointing.
Tisrya (clams) – Again, only onion taste dominated, no real flavor of the seafood.
Sukka Javla – Tasted like a regular gravy, missing the unique dry preparation and authentic flavor.
We had ordered 2 thalis, but surprisingly, neither bhakri nor chapati was available. Honestly, we can’t imagine eating tisrya or chicken without them—it was very disappointing for a Maharashtrian/Malwani restaurant. As a Malwani myself, I was expecting authentic flavors and better quality food, but it did not meet the mark. On the positive side, the ambience and service were good, but the food needs a lot of improvement to truly represent Maharashtrian/Malwani...
