Hotel Jewel of Chembur — Hotel in Mumbai

We had our early check-in approved one day before our arrival, but when we arrived we were causually informed that our rooms were given to someone else because she expected us at 9.30 instead we did not show up. Nowhere in our early check-in we mentioned our time of arrival, all we knew was we will be before 12 noon. After waiting for 30 mins we were given a room, this room had a urine smell and the restroom was not clean. So we went down to front desk and requested another room. After an hour, we were given a new room. In this new room, the lights were not working properly, when we brought this up with the front desk we requested for a new room but, they did not care about our comfort instead they said they will check the key card and asked us to stay in the same room. The new key card worked for a night and on day two we had the same issue, no lights or AC. Also, in this room the flush was not working properly. So on day two, we went down to front desk and called them out on these issues again. Finally we go another room in which lights and flush was working properly. Bottomline, the front desk or management has no idea about what is going on in each room. Looks like the housekeeping staff don't care about improper flushing, leaks, or lack of electricity in rooms. Overall, this place lacks good management and service. Via Bombay and Le Cafe restaurants within the hotel are good, the location of this hotel is also good. But, service and maintenance are poor. The staff at the reception always get defensive when we bring an issue up with them. I would not recommend this...

Had booked through Goibibo for 01 night stay and all Night SUFFERED very badly as the AC was turned down by the hotel management because I had booked through Goibibo and paid less. Till 02:30 am in the night I was calling them and they used to send some one and say that the AC is ok. Then at 02:30 am they changed my room and gave me another room only when I said that I will call the police and tell them to see for themselves standing in the room how hot it was. After the room change for 1st ine hour the AC was good than they shut it down and again I was in the boiler ... I was awake and all wet due to no air all night ... I even wrote to Gobibo and in the morning they called me and I told them to send somebody to my room and check out for themselves. And I checked out all the time literally crying and sweating like hell. Second time from Goibibo again my son booked and when we went there they sai that we will have to pay a difference of Rs. 4000/- . I ask if Goibibo is not sure if the rates that the hotel will agree hey they put the rates and send people there. Also it's a very bad lousy hotel where u do Not get what u are promised or told. I WILL STRIGKY TELL ALL NOT TO GO TO THIS HOTEL AND PUT YOURSELF IN TROUBLE ... PAID TROUBLE ... WORST STAFF, WORST AC AND SUPER...

Update 2023:- now they rent out terrace for functions so don't take room on upper floor. I was up for whole night prior my early morning flight. Noise and music is unbearable and annoying. Positives----It's centrally located and public transport is very near. Rooms are quite spacious and neatly maintained through out my stay. Hotel staff are helpful. And we can't say it's expensive compared to Mumbai standards of hotel and price(reasonably priced). Breakfast is good and nice variety everyday. I got upgraded to superior room for a day without extra cost. Negatives---- food variety is not that good I can say it's mostly prepared from things kept in fridge. But it's not an issue as there are lot of options are available to eat outside. Don't take rooms on first floor as they rent out some hall and that makes rooms quite noisy during stay. Bathroom floor is quite slippery because of the tiles fitted we need to be more careful to avoid fall or trip... overall--I prefer to stay again for its location and options of food and shopping around this place. And location and connectivity at the same time I hope there improve or change what we find negatives...
