A Fortuitous Culinary Adventure at Joshi House with a Slight Room for Improvement!
My Brief Reflections on Joshi House
It's often said that the best experiences in life are unplanned, and I couldn't agree more, especially after my unexpected but incredibly gratifying encounter with the culinary masterpieces at Joshi House. An otherwise ordinary day turned into a delightful adventure when I accompanied a friend to pick up his generous order of Joshi House's exquisite croissants.
As we arrived at the venue, the sight that greeted us was tantalizing. Nestled in the neat packaging were these perfectly crafted pastries, their aroma wafting into our senses, promising an experience that would linger for days. The allure was so overwhelming that I found myself compelled to acquire the last two pieces they had available. Little did I know then that this impulse purchase would leave me singing praises of Joshi House.
Every bite into the croissant was an encounter with culinary perfection. The pastry was flawlessly baked, tender and flaky, generously filled with a rich buttercream that oozed delight with each bite. A lavish layer of chocolate cream dressed the top, forming a delectable harmony of flavors. The final touch of elegance was a half-cut hazelnut carefully placed on the chocolate cream - a vision as beautiful as it was delicious.
I'd be remiss if I didn't express my heartfelt admiration for the talented team of chefs at Joshi House. Their skilled craftsmanship is a testament to their culinary expertise, a symphony of passion and perfection harmonized in their creations. A special mention of gratitude goes to Head Chef Jasirah, whose invaluable recommendation led us to this mouth-watering discovery. Joshi House management deserves commendation for fostering an environment that nurtures such exceptional talent and quality, resulting in truly magnificent food experiences.
Equally deserving of appreciation is my friend, who inadvertently introduced me to these divine croissants. Had he not placed that order, I might have remained oblivious to this gastronomic gem in our city. This delightful encounter has only intensified my curiosity and anticipation for what else Joshi House, along with its sister brand, Javaphile, housed within my gym, has to offer.
However, the otherwise stellar experience had a minor blip in the form of an interaction with a valet staff member. While his request for us to move our car was understandable, it was the tone that left something to be desired. I humbly request the management to remind their staff about the importance of maintaining a polite demeanor, as it significantly impacts the overall customer experience.
To all those fortunate enough to read this review, I cannot recommend Joshi House strongly enough. The journey of flavors their magnificent croissants take you on is a must-experience for any food lover. Trust me, you'll find yourself thanking not only the creators of this delightful pastry but also the universe for...
Read moreIt’s the relaunched version (2.0) of Joshi House (formerly in Bandra) now in Worli Koliwada. The emphasis is now strongly on Indian regional flavours (especially coastal & Rajasthani). The place is visually striking with good lighting, atmosphere within gives both grandeur and warmth. The space is spread over three floors, each with a distinct mood. • Ground floor has al fresco seating (patio style), greenery, the entrance has terracotta pots, Jaisalmer stone jaali screens. • First floor is more formal dining: yellow cement flooring, textured walls, sculptural wood furniture. Softer, more calming. • Second floor / Bar area: moodier, more intimate. Deep hues (violet walls, etc.), vaulted ceilings, artistic murals (e.g. hand‑painted tiger motifs). Details of Rajasthani heritage show up subtly in decor: brass, stone, carved wood, warm earthy textures - feels lived‑in, comfortable. The cuisine is rooted in Indian regional flavours, especially coastal and Rajasthani. Sea food gets centre stage. Vegetarian fare isn’t an afterthought. Top dishes like Balinese bhel, Dabeli sliders, Sweet potato shammi chaat (must try), Thecha brie toast, Mushroom benne dosa,Truffle Palak Saag with burrata along with makai roti, Beetroot malai kofta along with Malbari parotta etc get good attention. Desserts get creative - the Ghevar (Rajasthani dessert), Paan Magnum Kulfi etc. Nostalgic yet with some innovations. Cocktail and Mocktail is robust: creative mocktails like Sunset sipper, Berry almond mingle, Pom rajwadi, etc. are flavourful and refreshing. Service is generally attentive, with staff that understand the menu, guide and explains regional flavours. Joshi House Worli is a strong evolution from its Bandra version - more rooted, more coherent in theme, more local (both in ingredients and aesthetics). If you appreciate ambience, design, and wanting to explore awesome regional Indian cuisine with flair, it's a great pick. For special occasions or a nice evening out, it’s...
Read moreThis place was in my list since long as it was the most talked place in all my friend circle and also in foodiee group. If you are planning a visit, please make sure to book the table 2-3 weeks ago. I was lucky here as I tried to book almost 2 weeks ago and it was a success.
The decor of the place will remind you of sculptured white marble place just like in Rajasthan. As soon as you enter this place the courtyard style corridors and elegant beauty will remind you of a grand Haveli. This place has a good vibe and is divided into different rooms.
It provides multi cuisine menu but it is limited though and in my opinion they are all on a bit expensive side. We tried couple of dishes and no doubt all were very tasty and good in presentation. The starters and soup were just awesome, tasty and upto the mark. No complains at all on that front. Chicken in Hoison sauce was just scrumptious but the quantity was too less. The chicken and corn soup was just mind blowing and very unique in taste. One must definitely try this soup if you are health conscious types.
One incident, I would like to share which was very disappointing - the soup which we had ordered was served well after we had finished our starters. When asked, the steward replied soup is taking time. I had a word with the manager Mr. Ketan about this incident and guess what, I was mesmerised by the decision he took - he gave the food completely complimentary to us. Though it was quite a gesture from their end, as we were not expecting that they should give it for free for sure. But, good way to handle customer complaint.
I would definitely want to visit this place again. I highly appreciate the gesture which we received from this place. Overall a very great place for visiting with your family & friends. All...
