Mini Malvan — Restaurant in Mumbai

Visited this place with my office colleague as it was recommended by my friend. This place has 10-12 tables. We ordered surmai thali, special chicken thali, bombil rava fry, mutton sukkha, prawns sukkha and solkadi. In surmai thali we got piece of fried surmai, kalwan, 1 bhakri, rice, solkadi, watan (chutney) and some onion shreds.

Taste of chicken rassa was bland and mild, sukkha chicken on the other hand was tasty. I will rate it 2/5

Surmai fired piece was disappointing as most was the flesh was turned into a crispy chip, kalwan was low on spices. I will rate it 1.5/5

Prawns sukkha was good, I devoured it with bhakri, overall flavour was good. I will rate it 2.5/5

Mutton sukkha was very tasty. I will rate it 3.5/5

Solkadi served to us initially was stale, the replaced it as we pointed out. I will rate it 2/5

My overall experience at this place was...

Good tasty food . I had their Normal thali which was good . One thing which surprises me is why the coastal Konkan food do not serve green veggies .

What ever I have eaten in the malvani food so far is mostly fish curry , rice , roti , salad & solkadi . The normal dry subzi has always been missing . But may be that is the kind of food style what is followed there .

Nevertheless, The service was fast , Food was tasty & Price was reasonable . Will come back for sure

Simple atmosphere…..small outlet….

To start with we ordered bombil fry & prawns Koliwada…..really good 👍 Green chutney is good ..!!!

We ordered Surmai thali ,Pomfret thali & chicken sukka , soulkadhi…..food is flavourful…!!!! Chicken sukka was spot on …!!!!! They also gave me chicken rassa for tasting & didn’t charge ….!!!!! Fish rassa & chicken rassa are bang on …!!!!! Fried fish needed some seasoning but was fresh..!!! Soulkadhi is really nice ….!!!!
