Shree Balaji's cafe — Restaurant in Mumbai

Have visited this place twice. Both times had a very poor experience. First time - There was no electricity, order was delayed by an hour. How can basic sandwiches and south indian items take an hour to be served. Food taste is ok and hygiene is not so great. Staff at the billing counter will always be busy on his phone and would be least bothered about the customers.

Second time - 01.10.2024 - we were told idli and medu wada is only available which is prepared and cold. For other items sambhar is not available only chutney is available. How can a dedicated south Indian counter be so under prepared and least bothered about their business.

Two bad experiences and I am never visiting this place again and would surely not recommend...

Balaji cafe is my go to joint for Dosa and filter coffee. My favourite is the Mysore sada Dosa. It has a thin layer of filling and coupled with tomato chutney makes it better than any other Mysore sada I have had at any other joint. It is value for money too.

But I think the main reason why I and many people go there is Anna's coffee. He makes it with a great passion and you get a frothy hot great tasting filter coffee again at a just Rs.30.

We are Tamil family. So let me tell you that one of the few times when everyone in the family agreed on the awesome taste fo the south indian dishes one can buy. The food is really amazing. Do try their medu vada. You can eat it separately itself, so tasty. The idilis are so soft, the dosa's are so yummy. The chutneys and sambar are amazing. It is very busy. The food is so authentic.
