Tea Villa Cafe is a fairly new chain that has managed to create a whole lot of buzz around it. This place is pure vegetarian and has lot of Jain food varieties available.
We were seated on the 1st floor cushion corner table. We were baffled with the condition of this restaurant which was having a sprawl of flies and mosquitoes – given the season of monsoon as well as the junction location of this café, the owners and cleaners cannot have any excuse and must strive hard to maintain cleanliness. Anyways passing that we were down to the business – food.
We started with Chilli Garlic Paneer and Chilli Garlic Mushroom where panner/mushroom along with sweet corn and baby corn were grilled in chilli garlic sauce and served with a portion of small salad on the side – the dish tasted decent and was properly cooked. Followed by this we ordered Mini Burgers (3 pcs) where mini cheese fritters stuffed with jalapeno corn and served in small burgers with masala french fries and a sweet chilli chutney dip on the side – the taste was nice and enjoyable with the sweet chilli dip on the side which was good to try with the burgers although we missed the extra cheese layer in the burgers. Next we ordered Cheese Fondue which was a Semi-Swiss Semi-Italian and Semi-French dish of melted cheese served in a communal pot on the portable stove and eaten by dipping steamed fork in the fresh exotic vegetables, baby potatoes and bread crums portion served along with it. The server forgot to lit the candle and we requested him thrice after which he realized and lit it. The fondue tasted ok as the main dip – cheese tasted blend and needs improvements in the accompaniments taste also – we were disappointed with this dish. We ordered one was Farmhouse Villa Pizza and the second pizza we ordered was 4 Cheese Pizza comprising of 4 types of cheese namely - Cotton Cheese, Mozerella Cheese, Parmesan Cheese and Cheddar Cheese. Both pizzas were really good and tasty and yummy with a crispy base. The amazingly delicious pizza base was generously topped with gravy and abundant cheese as well as good quality olive oil. Next we ordered two sizzlers: Exotic Veg. Sizzler which had mix vegetables served with French fries, Chilli Garlic sauce, Butter Rice as well as Cottage Cheese Sizzler where Paneer (Cottage cheese) chunks were served with French fries along with BBQ sauce and Butter Rice. Both the sizzlers had different yet delicious taste and we would definitely recommend these to the readers.
As always, with the food we order something to drink and quench our thirst - we wanted to try Lychee and Hibiscus Iced Tea but the café didn’t had these. We ordered for Strawberry Shake, Green Apple Iced Tea, Lemon Iced Tea, Passion Fruit Iced Tea. The Strawberry Shake was little extra sugary while the Lemon Iced Tea was ok too. We loved the Green Apple and Passion Fruit Iced Tea both of which were excellently made and hits your bolt having the perfect mixture of chilled tea with right amount of fruit flavor. For the deserts, we ordered the Nutty Buddy Waffle where freshly baked waffles were dressed with melted chocolate and loaded with nuts while served along with ice cream and a small portion of melted chocolate with nuts sprinkled on it – the chocolate sauce was heavenly while the melted chocolate, which solidified after a while was delicious. Even though the preparation took a good 10-15 minutes, it was worth it and we have added this place to our waffles list already. It’s a definite recommendation from our end to the readers.
One of the negative part of our whole experience was service which did not compliment with the food served. The food was nice, however the service spoilt the experience. Nevertheless the food was amazing with different varieties and perfection which was mind blowing. The Grant Road and Bandra outlets of Tea Villa Café are way better in terms of service gelling in with ambience and food.

Read moreThe Tea Villa cafe is specious with 4 levels. First, entrance-level, 2nd - 2 steps bellow ( big area ) , 3rd - dining plus live kitchen serving freshly cooked food and 4th - Upstairs, kind of balcony ). The entire feel is full and still not stuffy.
I am more than curious to know, who the talented architect, interior decorator of this lovely, cozy Tea Villa Cafe are.
Right from the front door, the shelves, the various chairs, the tables, the cutlery, the crystal kettles, the cups, the wall-murals-hangings, the fan-mails, the live kitchen, the lamps, even the restroom, staircase, kitchen platforms and exit are so symmetrically aligned that nothing seems out of place or in the clumsy way.
The over all impact of Tea Villa Cafe is geometrically designed and aesthetically assembled art decor at it's prettiest best.
The waiters of Tea Villa Cafe are friendly, helping but a bit slow for those in a hurry. Our group of 5 bloggers was in a post-picnic mood, so we actually enjoyed the laid-back ambiance.
The happiest news for vegetarians like me is that Tea Villa Cafe is fully veg only with a grand menu comprising European, Mediterranean, Italian, Mexican, Chinese Cuisines.
We began our gastronomic journey with one of the most extravagant tea ever imagined. The waiter dramatically served Blueberry infused Green tea wrapped around a Marigold in the base, a string of pure Jasmine blossoms and a globe of amaranth flower which blooms and floats up when infused.
The whole lot of exquisite tea paraphernalia appeared complete with an hourglass ( sand-timer ) on the bloggers' table. We actually witnessed the Fuchsia-hued blooming and the subtle taste demands leisurely sipping, rather than gulping.
Can you imagine the rowdy scenario , we created for the Star Entry of Blueberry Tea!. The other tea-connoisseurs joined in laughingly at our robust enthusiasm in clicking pics, pics and more pics.
We continued with other exotic teas like Tropical Delight - A rich, fruit filled blend combining mango and vanilla to dramatic effect. With its vibrant red cup and creamy taste, it is perfect served hot or iced.
Ingredients: mango, apple, currants, cherry, hibiscus ,vanilla. and Rooibos Tiramisu Tea which is a blend of rooibos, barley malt, cocoa particles, roasted chicory root, white chocolate pieces and tiramisu flavor, followed by Triple Berry Coffee which is a blend of triple berry semisweet, and dark chocolates with a bit of cream and coffee shot.
Our bloggers' table remained center of attraction since then, till we exited the plush Tea Villa Cafe.
We went for variety of starters as per the manager's suggestion : Hummus Platter, Crispy Lotus Root Honey Chili ( our favorite due to sweet-spicy taste and crispy crunch), Baked Chili Parmesan and Paneer Skewers.
In Continental section we chose Villa Special Risotto ( Italian sticky rice with Exotic vegetables in tomato and cheese sauce ) accompanied with garlic toasts, color pepper-baby corn salad. Fine presentation but can not jell with the Indians preferring Basmati Biryani.
We loved the Chocolate shake and the Mango shake was not mango enough for our Hapoos i.e. Alphonso oriented taste-buds. Some of us liked Classic waffle with Maple syrup and all of us loved the Banana & Caramel waffle .
Compared to McDonald's and KFC's the Peri Peri French Fries were superlative and Sizzling Brownie with Ice cream was on par.
Nutella Hazelnut Brownie with Vanilla Ice cream was the ultimate favorite with all five of us. We shared that piece of heavenly bliss like Pandavas. Geeta Shridhar even clicked the pic of mine, slicing it into 5 pieces. Captioned it 'Sharing is Caring' and posted in on Instagram. All chimed "Happy Birthday' and yet again all those present in Tea Villa Cafe joined in the fun food-venture. Kudos to Master Chef Dessert King Shahzad Variava and his...
Read moreI had been wanting to visit this place for quite a while and finally got a chance to visit recently the Vile Parle (East) Location. The cafe is easy to locate and at a walking distance from the Vile Parle station. The cafe is quite small with around 8-10 tables cramped up in the small place, with the tables almost touching the adjacent table, making it really difficult to talk to the person you have come with, thanx to the noise of your adjoining customers and the T.V. The interiors are quite nice, with vibrant colours and wooden furniture complimenting the same. There are many coffee mugs, which are fixated on the sidewall to add to the decor.
Its a veg only place, although the place offers a wide range of items from all day breakfast, pancakes, pasta, salad, sandwiches, Chinese, and waffles and other desserts. We decided to try a few items:
Basket of Fries The fries basket included the normal fries, peri peri fries and potato wedges, with all of them spiced nicely, giving it an amazing texture and flavours. The spices made the fries very spicy, all the mayo and mustard dip served with the fries rightly balance the spiciness of the fries. A must have dish at this place.
Penne Pasta Tea Villa Cafe has a variety of Pasta’s on offer and also they give you the option of making your own pasta, where you get to choose type of pasta, sauce and 4 ingredients that you wanna put in the pasta. I ordered for Penne Pasta in pink sauce, with olives, baby corn, mushroom and bell pepper. The pasta was very tasty, though I would have preferred some extra sauce, as after a while the pasta became quite dry. Also, the garlic bread was oily and I really dint understand the reason behind such a oily bread.
Nacho’s We decided the traditional and famous Nacho’s at this place, and I was really let down with the dish. The nachos were served in a big plate, covered in cheese and mayo and vegetables, although the nachos had become very soggy and soft, which killed off the mood to eat them.
Nutella Waffle’s To end the day, we decided to try their speciality and the thing that we had heard about a lot, the Waffle’s. We ordered the Nutella Waffle, which was really crispy and soft. The waffle was covered with nutella, milk chocolate and dark chocolate, a total chocolate overload. It was also accompanied with a bowl of chocolate sauce. A bowl of vanilla ice cream is given, with extra charges, however the ice cream given to us was already melted and was dripping out of the bowl.
Overall, I was not that impressed with this place, with the service not doing any favours to my experience. Most of the time the waiters were either chitchatting or were engrossed in the India vs England cricket match. The pricing of the food was reasonable, however might not visit this outlet next time.
Note:
Cost for 2 people - ₹800 - ₹1200.
