Visited Ramji Shyamji Pohewale, located opposite Chatrapati Metro Station, Nagpur, in the early morning, and we were surprised to see a huge crowd already gathered there. The place has a strong local reputation, and it’s evident from the rush that people really love their Poha.
We ordered a plate of Poha, priced at ₹40 per plate, which felt slightly on the higher side. The taste was undoubtedly good, but I believe they charge an extra ₹10 just for their name. Ideally, ₹30 would be a more reasonable price. Each plate comes with Poha and Sukha Chiwda as a topping, which adds a nice crunch. However, if you want onions, you’ll have to cut them yourself before eating, which might not be convenient for everyone.
Many customers prefer pairing Poha with Tea and Jalebi, which seems to be a local favorite here. The place gives off a very authentic street food vibe, and it’s great for a quick breakfast stop if you are in the area.
Final Verdict: ✔️ Taste: 4/5 (Classic Nagpuri Poha, good flavors) ✔️ Price: 3/5 (Overpriced for what’s offered) ✔️ Ambiance: 3.5/5 (Street-side, crowded but lively) ✔️ Service: 3/5 (Self-service, cut-your-own-onion concept)
🔹 One-time visit recommended if you’re nearby, but I wouldn’t go out of my way just for this. If they could balance the pricing, it would be an even...
Read morePoha has always been a simple, comforting dish for me, but Ramji Shyamji Pohewale in Nagpur gave me a completely different experience. Their Tarri Poha was unlike anything I’ve had before—bold, spicy, and packed with flavor.
The poha itself was soft and well-cooked, but what made it stand out was the tarri—a rich, spicy gravy that added a completely new dimension to the dish. The combination of the mildly spiced poha with the fiery tarri, crispy sev, fresh onions, and a squeeze of lemon made every bite exciting. It was a flavor explosion, very different from the usual poha I have, but I actually enjoyed the change.
Since I was there, I also decided to try their Batata Wada. Unfortunately, this didn’t impress me as much. The outer coating was a bit thicker than I prefer, and the filling lacked the kind of punch I was expecting. It wasn’t bad, but compared to the poha, it felt quite average. Maybe I just had high expectations after the amazing Tarri Poha!
The place was crowded, a clear sign of its popularity, but the service was quick, and the food was served fresh. Prices were very reasonable, making it a great spot for a budget-friendly yet flavorful breakfast. If you’re in Nagpur, I’d highly recommend trying their Tarri Poha—it’s definitely something different...
Read moreI am shocked that how can you as a reputed restaurant even do these kinds of unacceptable and unethical behavior. My child’s birthday turned out to be a disaster and all the credits go to you people. I don’t even understand how can you people act so careless. It is against the food safety standards to serve stale food to your customers.
I hope this kind of pathetic behavior is not repeated again. It would be of great help if you look into this matter on priority.
