We recently visited Punjab Grill at Nexus Mall, Seawoods, Nerul, today to celebrate Diwali and the New Year with family. Given the reputation of Punjab Grill as a fine dining establishment especially through positive experiences at other branches, including the prominent BKC location, we expected an enjoyable, seamless experience. Unfortunately, what we encountered left us thoroughly disappointed and questioning the standards of this once highly regarded restaurant.
From the moment we were seated, we were met with an unpleasant surprise; a nauseating, filthy odour at our table. It was as if someone had recently been sick and vomited there, making it very uncomfortable to sit there from the time we entered. We immediately brought this to the attention of the waiter, who assured us that they would either relocate us to another table or eliminate the odor for hygienic reasons. Shockingly, no further action was taken, and we were neither offered another table nor was the area properly cleaned despite repeated follow-ups. We even requested them to sanitise this place and that we are ok to wait for some more time to get this done. The only attempt to address our concern was a simple replacement of the table mat, which hardly helped with the odour. We had no other choice but to let it go as we felt very helpless.
The service only went downhill from there. Typically, in any restaurant whether a small eatery or a high-end fine dining establishment , side plates are provided for bread along with the main plate. Here, however, the waiter began serving side dishes and bread directly on the large plate without the courtesy of an extra side plate. When we reminded the waiter about this basic oversight, his response was dismissive, merely saying, “no problem, we will get it now.” Side plates finally arrived, but only when we were almost done with our meal. This unusual oversight and the response left us feeling that the staff was either undertrained or simply not invested in providing an enjoyable dining experience.
We reported these issues to the restaurant manager, whose response was a simple apology and a vague promise to “get it fixed.” An apology without any effort to remedy the situation in the moment felt hollow, especially from a brand like Punjab Grill, which advertises itself as a premier dining experience.
Punjab Grill’s service and hygiene standards seem to have fallen significantly short of expectations, tarnishing what should have been a joyous family celebration. The experience was disappointing enough that we did not feel like ordering anything further and left with a poor impression of...
Read moreWe thought of taking our guest out for dinner in a highly rated restaurant for which we had also received reviews from a close friend of mine. But to our surprise, nothing could support the feedback and ratings. Highly unprofessional staff except for the lady outside the restaurant who adhered to our request of being seated as per our requirements. The menu is beautifully designed and pathetically served. Ambience no doubtedly is well maintained and needs to be appreciated. Being in a Punjabi restaurant we believe food and courteous staff is something which can never go wrong but this place has proved us wrong.Nobody even bothered to offer or at least check for the water. We ordered paneer lababdar and dal tadka, again something which in Punjabi flavour is loved by the most. It added to our disappointment, neither the gravy served was lababdar gravy not the dal tasted like dal tadka. After our starters, despite of we telling for a change of plates which again is a very basic thing for restaurants like these where food is highly priced. Our request for change of plates was initially ignored and food was brought to our table for serving. Again before being served when we reminded, it took a good amount of time for them to set the half table so that food can just be served anyhow.
We were 5 but food served was initially to 4,again no apologies for the same. Somehow,we were just trying to manage since didn't wanted the moment to be spoiled for our guest. Roomali roti served was cold and half cooked. We then ordered rice probably that wud b better which took 15 min to reach out table. Post which it was left unserved at our tables for another 5 min. A different staff came in to serve, thus,by then Jeera rice turned to AC chilled rice which was without salt for Rs 500/-
We just could not take it anymore and decided to leave, billing process took another 10 min.
I have never had such an experience especially in Punjabi restaurant with Punjabi food till now,not even, outside India.
The staff has to be called everytime for everything, even for the basic things like water refill after paying Rs 3199 for just 4 things.
Highly unprofessional staff, disappointed with both food. Would...
Read moreI went to Punjab Grill yesterday for a lunch. Here are my hits and misses.
Prices ar premium for almost everything here but i got good discounts through Dineout Passport so won't complain. We ordered- Dahi Ke Kebab, Bhatti Da Murg, Murg Makhni, Aloo Pyaz Kulcha, Butter Naan and Tandoori butter Roti.
Dahi Ke Kebab- Extremely Satisfied and the subtle flavours of Cinnamon and Cardamon were the hallmarks of this dish. Bhatti Da Murg- Nicely roasted and flavoursome. The masala coating was superb and not overdone at all. Will not forget for a long time.
Murg Makhni- Could have been made better. Having some from Delhi i know that's not the Punjabi taste. Chicken weren't roasted enough. The gravy was watery and lacked the creamy texture along with the smokiness which are the essential part of the dish. Needs serious attention as Murg Makhni is a star dish of any Punjabi outlet.
Aloo Pyaz Kulcha, Naan and Roti- Were a disappointment. Roti's were largely rubbery and cold by the time it came to out table. Kulcha was bland and an overall disaster. Needs serious attention.
Service- 1 out of 5 stars- Huge Disappointment. After charging such a premium one cannot be casual when it comes to service. All the time the stewards were running helter skelter throughout the course of our meal and spoiling the ambience. Service was too slow and not proper attention would be given to your choices ike if you want something spicy or less spicy. Those things will be ignored. We requested to make the Kulcha spicy and with Green chilis. "Sir- we can make a new one"was the answer. I had to call waiters each time i wanted something. Food got cold waiting for the Roti. Main course took a way too longer to arrive. No one would pay attention or have time to listen to you. They are all busy running with card swipe machines... It would have been better if they would have made it self service.
It's a one time go for sure. Don't expect a 5...
