Delhi and its love for North Indian cuisine is legendary. But it isn’t easy to come across a place that serves preparations that stay with our taste buds for long. We find it difficult to find a place that offers recipes the way they are supposed to be served. One such gem of a restaurant is Amar Jyoti. Tucked in the busy market place of Sarojini Nagar Market, this is a place for lovers of Indian cuisine. We walked into it on a cold winter evening, to grab our dinner. This is what we ordered. Tandoori Chicken Mutton Seekh Kebabs Keema Mutton Sarso Saag Makke ki Roti Garlic Naan Tandoori Chicken, the favourite snack of almost every non vegetarian in Delhi finds a delicious avatar in this place. Unlike most of the places serving the same, the Tandoori Chicken here is a bit softer from outside, with the masalas finding their way till the last bite. We were told that this owes thanks to a different, patient and innovative way of preparing it, in the tandoor. But we were too busy in sinking our teeth and taste buds in the preparation to pay attention to the exact process. No wonder, it has always found a place amongst the best tandoori chicken served in Delhi. Next, was the winter quintessential of Punjabi, Sarso ka Saag. Served with a dollop of butter, the saag had every element, a hardcore foodie like me expects to find. Right texture, flavours in abundance and overall the taste of freshness made the preparation just the perfect combination with Makke ki Roti. Now, the kebabs, a starter found a place in our plate after the saag. Every bit I had heard about the famed kebabs is actually true. We were left trying to figure out the secret behind the preparation. Maybe it’s the fact that the meat as in the kebabs are made at the restaurant itself, maybe it’s the spices. But definitely, it is one of the best we had till date. Finally, we started with our main course. Garlic Naan and the Keema Mutton. Though we liked it much, but felt the keema would have been more appealing to our taste buds if it had a bit of more spice as in hotness. I was missing out on a bit of sting in it. It might be my personal preference that I like my mutton preparation a bit on the spicier, hotter side. Overall, it wasn’t a bad preparation by any benchmark. So, if you too love North Indian cuisine, this is a must try for...

Amar Jyoti very pleasantly brought my appreciation for comfort , North Indian food to a whole new level. The brand is synonymous with good Punjabi fare specially their Non vegetarian delicacies.
Coming to the food, we tried- Paneer tikka and malai soya chaap for vegetarian starters and Chicken malai tikka and tandoori chicken for non veg starters. Truly enjoyed with a glass of Thumbs up! For main course we had dal makhani, butter chicken and egg curry with assorted breads. Each and every dish was way beyond our expectations. A 50 + year old restaurant, they know their recipes just perfectly. Not to miss, the onion and chutney served along is a class apart. They have a secret recipe they won't share.
Also, Try the kulfis to beat the scorching heat. I personally loved the paan kulfi.
With their warm interiors, relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff, this humble establishment will definitely see more visits from me.
I also happened to meet the owner of the place, Mr. Tanmeet Singh Arora who welcomed us with a big smile and made sure we had a great meal experience.
